Bright line of stars in the distance

Well it did appeal to my impish sense of humour, rOmiLaYu :) :D

Thanks for playing along with me everyone; a real drink on me if our paths cross anytime :)

I have actually bookmarked one of the O type stars in NGC 7822 for a visit on the way back from Heart and Soul. With so many O types in close proximity, plus the nebula surrounding them, it promises some good views. It is quite obvious when looking at the galmap why it isn't visible in the same way from the bubble, the O types are hidden behind the nebula gas!

Last night, I was out towards the Heart and Soul nebulae when I saw a bright line of stars in the distance.

"Ah, NGC 7822!", I said to myself.
Was it actually NGC 7822 in the end? I was once out near those nebulae and got a whole bunch of reflex answers with a picture of an O-class cluster, despite it clearly being in the wrong direction, several thousand LY closer than NGC 7822, and other than "roughly linear" a completely different shape.

Oh yes, it definitely was! Verified against past screen-shots and also with a bit of galmap manipulation to get a bearing from my position.

That particular formation of super-bright stars is very recognisable :)
