Bring back the old Hyperspace!

I do a lot of exploring, so I get to see a lot of hyperspace. It used to be really interesting and immersive, with each jump having a different character. Now all jumps look more or less the same - a rather boring and bland combination of flying clouds (especially blue ones!).

Didn't Elite's Hyperspace win some kind of award way back for its artistic content? So why change something that wasn't broken? The only thing I can think of is that the PC graphics are being dumbed down to the lowest common denominator - yes consoles, I'm looking at you....

They only made it bigger and make the clouds spawn more often.
Otherwise its the same , the old one was allways the same as well

Maybe it was to improve the framerate during the loading phase. And the occasional frog that flies past.

I second this too!

I almost hate the new hyperspace. There are still some variations but they mostly look the same, and to top it off, I keep seeing jarring straight edges where the sprites or volumes fail to blend correctly. Maybe it's my hardware or something but I doubt it. I think they didn't scale properly when they stretched out the hyperspace tunnel to fit the biggest ships in.

I think they also dropped the large bright orbs too - really liked those :/

Didn't realise they had made it bigger.... I wonder if they are trying to fit a Thargoid Invasion ship in it <Starts unsubstantiated rumour> :)

The new hypersapce lags like crazy. I get all kinds of hiccups and frame freezes. The old hyperspace animation was smooth as butter. If they can keep the new graphic and get rid of the framerate hiccups, that would be peaches.

How many ED gamers does it take to change a light bulb?

102.

1 to change it.
25 to complain about the light bulb getting nerfed
25 to complain that the new light bulb is OP.
25 to complain that the new light bulb is the wrong color for how they want to play.
25 to ignore the light bulb and just keep complaining the room smells funny.
1 to just turn on the new light bulb and use it.

I thought they had removed the "epilepsy-inducing" flashes and streaks but they are still there although to a lesser extent than in beta. Other than that I can't say I prefer the old one or the new one, I'd just like to see a bit more variation with each jump.

Not really accurate.

To make it accurate you'd need 127 people, as you completely forgot the 25 people that complain that the new light bulb is fine but only caters to a minority of players and so there needs to be a wider selection of optional light bulbs to use for the supposed majority instead.... otherwise the games population all leaves and the game will be empty by Sunday.... 1:27:37pm....

This is all you ever need to know about the forums. :)

Agreed. I've only been playing since 2.0/December 2015. In 2.0, it was always the same and neat. In 2.1, I think it looks prettier, and the their is still a static pattern to it. If there was ever a randomized version, I've never seen it.

What I would like to see fixed is the sound dropping out in hyperspace. This has only been happening to me in 2.1 and only happens on certain jumps (about 1 in 30, I guess). I jump, standard audio/visuals, then the sound goes down to nothing, few seconds of silence, then it slowly ramps back up. On the plus side, the silence always indicates the middle of the jump: the loss, silence, return of sound are always perfectly timed. Weird. I blame the Thargoids.
