Bring back the profitability of core mining PLEASE!

I'm sooooooooo over surface mining, its brainless and boring! Please can you at least make core mining or sub surface mining a thing again? I shouldn't be forced into doing wings for combat mission or surface mining in order not spend 3 hours a day trying to farm up cash... When you are in a double hotspot for cores and you dont see a single core of the labeled hotspot for more than 40 minutes its maddening...

Please bring back some sort of stimulus to this game besides the monotonous drudgery of mindless griiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinding for everrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrything!

In what way is it not profitable though? Plenty of people still making stupid money.

I am not sure what you mean by plenty of people making stupid money... If so, by what method are they making this money, my guess is 4 pilot wing surface mining or combat farming. I amtrying to address a problem i perceive for the casual I cant always play with people cmdr's...

I've visited over the last 2 weeks numerous musgravite, serendibite and VO double hotspots. I go at a time upwards of 30 minutes with out finding a core laden asteroid... This shouldn't be the case. not to mention trying to do sub surface deposits. I am asking for a balance between the types of mining. I don't want to be pigeon holed into wing surface mining...

In a wing of 4 when you surface mine an asteroid it gives 4x the deposit so all players get a fair share. If you 4x wing core mining its /4... I'm asking for more consistent core asteroids.

Your comment about plenty of people making stupid money. Yeah no doubt but at what cost to time investment...? I cant spend 3 hours a day every day dedicated to farming up money, nor should I have to, I am saying sure let those people who play 7 hours a day get filthy rich and make as you put it stupid amounts of money but make it so the more casual players who've been around for years be able to make cash like we used to with with SSD and core mining.

Come to the Galactic Academy and let Doc educate you. He's happy to take people mining. He's a core miner, tells me every opportunity how he's making money hand over fist. 🤷‍♂️
Got a discord/in game name to DM? This old dog is willing to talk to someone to see if there is something new to learn...

No, not by core mining.
You're just trolling

Yea, if you can pop more than 6-7 cores per hour and get more than 100t per hour, just let us know

And then, lets see for how much you can sell those 100t
Musgravite? occasionally 700-800k but with really low demand easily filled up by a single commander, then prices get a deep dive
Benitoite, Monazite - same

So? assuming perfect timing in reaching a station with untouched demand one can make 80 millions by selling 100t of core material.
in an ideal situation. Practically one can do like 40-50 millions per hour at best.

I can make 100 millions in the first hour in any single day at Robigo
I can make about the same or a bit more by trading, but it requires doing some research having all the planets properly aligned (read: bgs states)
I can make more than that by doing massacre missions - but those require some preparation like getting allied with the factions in advance
I can make more than that by doing missions in an incursion system by killing scouts and tier 1 and 2 interceptors - sure, it requires some skill, a properly equipped ship and be allied with all the factions. And it does require the incursion to happen in a system with at least 7 factions so one can properly stack missions.

Again, where are those stupid amounts of credits that can be made out of Core mining?
Nowhere to be seen

Core mining basically died when Void Opals stop being sold for 1.6 millions (back then when demand and bulk sale tax was not affecting sell prices)
At this price one could get like 160 millions per hour. Decent, but not stupidly high.

Anyway, rant over.

Last time I went core mining (a few weeks ago), I managed to mine roughly 100 tonnes of opals, diamonds etc. in roughly an hour (+). Then I decided to find the best places to sell at EDDB, and ended up spending more than an hour doing that. So, no, you can't make "stupid money" core mining these days.

On the other hand, I have roughly 2500 hours in the game, and my total earnings have been roughly 15 billion CR, so on average my hourly income has been around 6 million CR per hour.

Who cares. I like blowing up rocks :alien:

I think the real problem@the end of the day
really is what too spend it on ;)
I wanna FD proudly presents CASINO ZAONCE and is there a bar in this galaxy where one can buy a drink?

Mining just faces the same fate like other too much profitable things in the past .... nerfed to the ground twice (maybe three times, is good to be sure its dead, right?). I agree that profits from mining were too high, but what we have now is just sad. It looks like people deciding about these things in Frontier toally forget that playing a game should be fun ...

yep got that check (the dog house moored barnards star currently)
ships got them all modded too
(well the ones worth there metal imo)
g5 suits check

The discord llink is at the top of the newcomers subforum. Got to the mining channel and just scroll up a bit. Everyone's invited. Though I'm sure Doc will curse me for it. If Doc fails to demonstrate it's worth doing then I can rib him for it. Win/win for me. 🤷‍♂️

Also vaguely amused that if mining doesn't match whatever currently broken meta is trendy means it's "not profitable!".:giggle:

Broken meta chime would have been valid like 3-4 years ago

But if you have at least 4-5 activities that can net more than twice amount of credits than core mining, we cannot really talk about a "meta" anymore

Noticed that too...
whatever gets "fixed" by FD... well... it actually means it gets shot dead, drown, hanged, electrocuted, then run over by a truck twice - just for good measure.

For example nerfing ltd mining meant: nerfing the ltd price (twice), nerfing the hotspots, nerfing the LTD SSD, introducing demand, introducing bulk sale tax.

Also i noted this heavy hand in fixed when it came about "fixing" the alleged Dolphin's heat issue (IMO there was no issue with Dolphin's heating)
So it got fixed that now it can charge the fsd while scooping without any special measure (like g5 low emissions / thermal spread PP and a build with minimal power usage)
Basically the Dolphin now is like Hellboy (I'm fireproof. You're not)

See having flown the dolphin a lot I now actually get what people were saying when they bleeted about the dolphin heat issue...

It does seem a little strange that the little ship can happily sit atop a star but overheated turning a corner on a lifeless planet...

I did flown the Dolphin too, it used to be my favorite go-to ship for guardian sites and generally speaking material collecting trips

Overheating while doing maneuvers in a more or less high-g environment is supposed to overheat the ship.
Especially a sausage-like ship.

Check my Cutter overheating while under a DC controlled landing.

you're not, how much cash do you need?

and before you answer, I worry that you're gonna read that question as "how much cash do you want" - the question is "how much cash do you need". Do you have a large fleet of engineered ships that you relocate on a regular basis? Do you like flying really huge and expensive ships like the cutter and corvette, that you don't have already?

The vast majority of my time since the odyssey launch has been spent cutting around in a viper mk4, literally the 4th ship I ever owned (the first three being the starter sidey, an adder I traded up to to make the trip to meet up with my buddies that played at the time, and a cobra that was my first proper multirole) - I find that credits are pretty low on my list of needs.

Hmm! That doesn't really make sense. If it's the money you want, you can spend a few evenings doing pirate massacre missions in a low RES, which is very similar to core mining in that you scan objects, then fire a weapon at a target and something goes boom, then cash in, except you get three times the money for it. Even if you don't enjoy it, you'll have several billion after a few sessions, then you can go back to your core mining and not worry about the earnings rate being less that laser mining.
