Bringing a loaded type-9 back from Sothis?

I have kind of wanted to do this for a while, basically for the hell of it after reading all those threads of trader misfortune.
Its an all defense build (theres a choice?) and my plan if interdicted is to submit and then run away in the stately and deliberate panic that its top boost speed will allow me.
https://coriolis.edcd.io/outfit/typ...4000307064f04023202242h.Iw18eQ==.IwBhrSuzVI==.

Its all stock, so coming back loaded i will have a max jump range of about 12ly.

Anyone who has done this who has interesting or tragic stories to tell?
Anyone who has done this and it just went ok?

I do have a couple of powerplay generated bounties on me and im wondering about that as well.

EDIT: forgot to mention that im traveling in mobius so i should only have npc's to worry about.

Your build definitely looks viable for it, I'd say go for it.

I've done a couple Sothis runs in my 600T cutter and when I get interdicted, I submit, boost with my G5 engineered drives, and then wake away

I also did two runs a couple months back on a no shield AspX. It was a thrill. I probably got lucky.

Plan to stop off and do repairs... The shields will drop and you will take damage. Pending on where in the bubble you are going you are looking at 30-40+ jumps.

I ran a T9 similar to this on 2 jump run... I had to make repairs pretty consistently. Though, that was awhile ago before interdictions were "toned down" some...

Edit- I played in Open, but was never interdicted by a human. PD saved my butt on more than one occasion.

That sounds like a lot of fun.. I presume it is really a training mission before you take the deep dive and do a Sag A or Beagle trip ?

Cheers Cmdr's

if you cut a straight line back to the bubble (your delivery targets) you are likely to encounter a field of unscoopables in your path and with only 12Ly you might find yourself in fuel trouble if you get 3 in a row

i'd recommend going slightly high by about 40Ly or so at your journey's midpoint, which should take you above the field or at least not smack bang right through the core of it

Don't listen to the naysayers. You'll do fine. The T-series ships are very cool.
Since you posted your build...IMHO....
Why the 6D power plant? The 5A is about half the weight and cooler since you will have to fuel scoop. Makes a big difference.
Personally I would get rid of the weapons. Been a while since I used mines but, again IMHO, I would just worry about getting away with "submit/boost/jump". And for the "submit/boost/jump" ship I would use a D-rated PD and Ligtweight alloy to save about 100 tons of weight and add to your jump range.
Have fun and good luck from a Lakon fanboy.

I have thought about colonia :) I worry that there wont be much to do out there though.

I went with your suggestions about the power plant and power distributor and i actually didnt use my weapons once.

I got 4 actual interdictions coming back and one going out. Two of the interdictions were pirates one powerplay related and the only one that did me any damage involved a wing of two. My shields got taken down and i suffered 6% hull damage.

So it was a milk run. I think i might try it in open next with military grade composite and an MRP and HRP just to see how long i last. Thanks for the advice and encouragement all.

It's the number of jumps that is the killer for the short-jump-range ships. Even in an Anaconda it is usually 20 or more jumps from Ceos/Sothis to the bubble (400+ LY), in a T-9 it must be more like 30+ jumps. Argh. Did it in a Python and just ground it out until I could afford an Anaconda.

The runs themselves are cake in SOLO so long as you are able to evade interdictions by NPCs. When mines were a thing I didn't even run away, but now . . .

as long as he remembers to get rid of any engineer rewards as he goes. there's no point in tempting the pirates, but those little 4t loads are easy to miss, and they draw pirates like flies
Yes.and never take a mission to bring something back to Ceos or Sothis or else you'll have pirates chasing you all the way out and back, plus, they have mastered the technique of getting your cargo out of the hold even though your shields never went down, so you have to do it all over again.

30 jumps is around 25 minutes, not really a big a deal considering the amount of money you earn in a large freighter on those runs. From memory it's about 19LY laden jump range on my T9, early 20's on my Cutter with an extra 200T capacity.

Fortunately I don't have the attention span of a goldfish.

"Large" amount? Back in the day it was 62 million per lap in an Anaconda, how much is it paying these days?

Been about 2 months, around 40/50 mill on a longhaul run with no mode switching, those old Sothis runs pulled in way more than 60 million without mode switching, it was rediculous, 60 mill is more what you would expect in a Python or Asp, I only flew T9's and Cutters.

As many of us posted numerous times, long haul trucking is not just about Sothis, there are plenty of remote ports out there, the bulk of them planatery settlements.

Pre Laboratory was one of my favourite long haul runs.

I did a few runs out there for the Sothis gold CG shieldless in open in my T-9. Shields would definitely be advisable these days.

IIRC it got a bit hot while scooping.

What are you really worried about? In PvE there is no risk, interdictions are really easy to beat, so you dont even have to submit, if submitting just boost away and jump. lol. As long as you stick too private group/solo there really is no worries,,,,yawn
