British Summer Time

GMT didn't win out - it just stayed exactly as it was, while Britain fiddled around with its clocks. And when the UK fiddles them back again, GMT will still be there - not winning, just continuing to tell the time in its uncomplicated way :)

yeah id love an option, its weird seeing the time there an it being wrong.

Hmm no sympathy here...just imagine how it feels on this side of the pond... US Eastern Time here... I log on around 7p.m. and the game keeps telling me that is like 12:00 a.m or 1a.m. of the following day, not less....

I see in the future GMT has won out ;-) Just back from Sag A, only now noticing ED still on GMT!

GMT has been the "base time" by international convention since 1884 and all other times derive from it (eg: I'm in Brisbane Australia so my time is GMT+10). No reason that should change in the future... if there's a need for humanity to have a common "galactic time" and humanity derived from a place where there was already a standard why not continue to use it?

I personally wish FD would use GMT for announcements and such... it's a pain when they decide to go to British Summer Time.. I don't know if that's 11 or 9 hours off my time but I have GMT on one of the three clocks on my joystick. Seems reasonable since they have a worldwide audience.

Summer time is due to the current climate of our Planet. It is done so we get more daylight during the day, during summer.

This has no effect in space, thus the game uses UTC (universal time) which never changes.

It's just a co-incidence that UTC is the same as GMT. It has to be the same of at least one timezone, and GMT is that timezone.

Time, flowing like a river
Time, beckoning me
Who knows when we shall meet again
If ever
But time
Keeps flowing like a river
To the sea.

British Summer Time is in essence three hot days and a thunderstorm. They should change the name to The Time Between Wet Spring and Wet Autumn.

yeah, any company adressing worldwide should express time in utc, everyone's know how is own timezone is vs utc, ut for instance i don't have a clue about the difference between my time and psd / or australia or whatever

UTC is a different name for GMT as some people take offence that they use something established by the former empire.
