I’ve been stranded in the Colonia area for a few months now. I’ve been trying to mine intermittently for a long time, however, it seems that every hotspot has none of the material it’s labeled as having. I tried mining in a Monazite hotspot today and found absolutely zero. All the asteroids ever have is the worthless material in it. This goes for every hotspot mineral (Alexandrite, LTD, Tritium, etc.) Anyone else having this issue near Colonia?

A hotspot for core mining simply increases the chance of a core being of the hotspot type. It doesn't mean that all cores will be that. I consider myself lucky if I find two cores of the hotspot type in one mining session, but I can always find stuff worth mining. My Python can do all types of mining, which I find much more enjoyable than just laser. Subsurface adds a significant chunk to total hoard.
My latest core mining experience, right after fixing the PWS yielded 6 cores of the hotspot mineral and 4 other randoms. Quite bad percentage IMO.
But RNG can be a terrible at times.... Once, more than an year ago in a Void Opal hotspot i had 5 consecutive grandiderite and one alexandrite core.
Since then i started to crack every core i find, even if i dont mine a single fragment from it... just to make sure it doesnt deceive me again if i get to the same ring next day.

I think it’s my only choice at this point. Ever since Frontier destroyed mining, I’ve lost all interest in playing.
