I am not that socially inept to not appreciate the irony in your post. :p Anyway, I am just stating the obvious. Obviously he is frustrated, and it is equally obvious that things he wants to be added have been in the game since day 1. For someone who digs through year-old posts looking for info, not knowing how the actual game is right now is ignorant. And considering he doesnt know stuff that people who play the game should know, and finds his info by googling vids of others playing, I dont find the idea that far-fetched that he either dont have the game or doesnt play it.

If you find any of the words offensive, feel free to substitute softer-sounding words that mean the same thing. :)

No irony, I'm not replying to you because you disagree with me, I'm directly confronting the way you act here. that is the difference. So yes, you are.

Certainly I know if I were to talk about the features in an upcoming game I was to make that was just at the start of development it would not be surprising if some of the wanted features did not make it in. Perhaps it could have been made clearer that they were just wanted and not guaranteed things, but I do feel they really did at the time want the features that were mentioned.

OP makes a number of valid points (as do others in this thread).

My feeling is we've got a cracking base game that's been overloaded with shiny bits to its detriment.

Ok, I've been doing coding and working for/with software companies for over 30 years now, I've NEVER seen a 1.0 release that was IT, nothing more needing to be done, all features fully implemented, not one single time. My own work, other people's work, not a single time have I see that. I do know MANY console titles that were released and didn't work properly, starting back in the 70s, when what you got was it, there were no updates, no patches, no fixes coming along later on. That still happens today, as when you buy a game for a console, the FIRST thing that happens usually is it connects to the patcher! Same goes for PC software, before the advent of the online world, you got what you got, it was usually buggy, features simply didn't exist despite being advertised, and there was no way to get that fixed, updated or patched. Today, you get software on your PC, what's the first thing it does? Exact same thing as the console, connect to the patcher!

The 70's were a time before software consumer protections and quality assurance. Day 1 patching is an unfortunate recent trend. Your company sounds like it needs a strict publisher to whip you into shape honestly.

Nobody preordered these features in 10 years, they bought them today.

I think there comes a time when one must realize they are not inside the meeting rooms of FD and realize that maybe some things are not ready to be published and or possibly too complex at this time, I think most players here are not game developers and have no idea what is really involved. So to that I say dial back your expectations and see what comes. Lower expectations = lowered disappointment if it doesn't come to fruition.

And the next point is FD just needs to openly communicate a bit better by being more open, they can manage the expectations of the playerbase better, which would lessen the frustrations and disappointments eventually leading to less toxic discussions..... In theory... can't please everyone...

Btw, not interested in making this a thing, so if you really find my posts so annoying just put me on ignore. Thats what it is for.

I think you might be on to something here. I sense much anger in the OP.

OP, give me the correct keyboard buttons needed to initiate the self destruct sequence and I will believe you actually have the game.
