Broken Scanner - Broken Heart

I spent a week exploring in the backwoods of the galaxy, found my first un-scanned celestial bodies (which was harder than I thought it would be and super exciting), and I have millions of dollars worth of cartographic info in my ship. About one jump away from a station on my way back to civilization a NPC took out my Scanners which now have a health of 0%. I don't have an AFMU. So long story short I have a fully functioning ship full of cartographics but can't contact a station to request docking.

So before I just commit suicide and ram my ship into the side of a station, is there anything in the next patch/update that will help with this situation? Ability for another ship to drop a scanner, any means to recover from a loss of a Scanner and dock somewhere?

Thanks,
CapnKrunk

Is it possible to perform a reboot as introduced in the last update. Not done it myself but I thought it reduces other modules health to bring ones at zero back online.

Someone will be along shortly.

Good luck

This. Do this. And rejoice.

Once should do it.

Just remember to switch it back on in the modules list.

It should only take once, but sometimes during heavy traffic times or internet lag on your end you may have to repeat it to have the server pick it up. (like the double scanning with the horn and DDS)

Thank you! Worked the first time. I must have read an old thread that said there was nothing to be done about a broken scanner.

Glad it worked :)

I used it for the first time last night, in my alt''s Viper. I've never lost thrusters before. First time. Used it. Job done. Got home safely.

It's an ace new addition to the game. And it looks cool too. But to have it save you so much! Really happy for you.

So, what does reboot do exactly? Good to see that there is now an option to make your scanner work when it was destroyed. I disabled scanner once when playing with power settings and almost self-destructed of frustration :)

If you have a module thats broken reboot will have a chance to fix it up to working order allowing you to get back to a port to do a full repair.

It shuts all systems down, analyses your modules, finds destroyed modules (0%), then attempts to repair them by cannibalising healthy modules. It gives you 1% and costs more than that but it will prioritise what it takes health from sensibly.

It's one of the few new introductions that no one has said something doesn't work right. It just does what it's supposed to. It's great.
