Brotherhood of Mainani on strike.

Been playing for over two hours, and not a single one has bit in the Low RES by Mainani 5. Made over 9 mil in bounties for just 'Wanted', but the stacked MMs are a fail.

Glitch or nerfed?

It shouldn't make a difference that I'm playing Odyssey instead of Horizons, because the MMs are still available from Hickam Survey while in the ship, but I'm going to try the latter, anyway, before the mission times expire.

Don't do MM's by going to res. Make sure you:
  • Don't use wing MMs
  • Take at least one MM of Expert rank[1]

...then just go the the Threat 3 mission USS. TTK is much faster and more target rich environment more than makes up for time taken travelling between respawns. Just don't take missions for a system where there's bodies >10k ls from jump, that'll screw you.

Wing MMs may be enticing, but it's three times as many kills (81 vs 30 for a non-wing paying 40-50m), and they give bad USS spawns.

Farming Res for MM stacks is a bum steer.

[1] I don't know what the rank indicator in Odyssey is these days, but usually if the payout is 20m or less it'll be about expert rank. If you go lower than that, you don't get enough targets per spawn (usually about 8-10 targets in a Threat 3 USS)

I'll give the USS' a go (I tried a CZ just before logging out, and that did not seem to be going well, with a particular tough Cutter battering my shields).

The Mainani Low RES has been profitable, and low maintenance enough to earn a Hawkes Gaming recommendation. You generally only have to deploy the fighter once (apart from the rare instance of it being destroyed), and just rake in steady 'space cheddar' to feed the carrier budget, but if that's over, I'm happy to explore other options.

So that was good and bad. The Threat 3s took care of most of my frag requirements, but then they fizzled out, and I was left with a threat 4, which was hairy. I switched from the T10 to the Laser Corvette, and that let me take out about three ships before my shields buckled or the rest of the ships waked out, but eventually I ran out of time. Two missions expired, and with the one that was left, I had to kill 9 ships in 12 minutes, which wasn't happening.

I've mentioned problems with my monitor/connector before. The update seems to have made this worse, and mission elapse times are pretty blurry now. I may dip my toes into this USS thing, starting afresh, with plenty of time, taking care to avoid wing missions. I've always gone for 25-30 ship missions anyway, and it's been more or less fine at the Low RES, but I wonder if a wing mission was spawning that Threat 4, so I'll have to pay more attention with my choices.

Do it in Horizons. I'm not sure that it's ever worked in Odyssey.

Now there's a tale that grows in the telling.

When I first started using a gamepad, it was a Nacom, and seemed to work from the get go, with very little adjustment, if any, needed. One of the nice touches was that if you held down any of the 'shape' buttons, options for the triggers, like internal/external panels, would show up on the HUD.

Then, just after I started playing Odyssey (perhaps understandably, given the experience was quite immersive), the left 'stick' on the pad gave up the ghost. I'd managed to fix it once, but not this time. I had a replacement lying around, not sure why, maybe I'd bought it, a Gioteck, because it was cheap. I soon realised that nothing was working, and I'd have to programme every function in. The HUD thing didn't work, but programming for two button presses did, more or less. With Odyssey, I had to do this for general, ship, SRV and on foot.

OK, so skip forward to now, and the Brotherhood are missing, and I need Horizons. I load it up and try to launch, but the pad does nothing. I kind of already knew this, from times I had to switch formats when a glitch has left me stranded, but then the keyboard sufficed. Now, I'm faced with programming the pad for Horizons, but when I'm halfway done, I check my interactions and find that in Horizons, my current massacre missions don't exist. I go back to Odyssey, and do the USS thing.

I could still finish programming the pad, and see if the brotherhood turn up at the RES in Horizons as usual, but if I avoid wing missions, and the T3s work as well as they have been doing, I may not have to.

I'm pretty sure I took the missions in Odyssey. First time I tried that after getting the 'expansion', I couldn't find them, until I realised I was using the on foot terminal, then there they were. The update may have altered some things, though.

Wing missions definitely would have been doing it, but so would the 25-30 kill missions.

My usual way around this is to keep one faction at low rep, so the missions offered are of a lower calibre and not cross- stacked... then you have a continual influx of threat 3s with just competent or novice pilots.

Well, my rep with the Brotherhood is very low, but I guess that's not what you mean.

Anyhoo, the Brotherhood is back at the RES, so it's a nice easy top-up, with nearly 50 mil keeping the ball rolling last night, and I just remembered I forgot to cash bounties. Have to do that before trying to go to 25 Nu-2 Draconis again. Weirdly, I keep getting 'route unavailable', whether I do it in a Corvette, a Python or an Asp Explorer.
