Brown Haze at galactic Core, can hardly see any stars.

Hey folks,

So I have finally arrived at SagA* in my Asp Explorer (I play on PC w/ Horizons via Steam). My graphics settings are maxed and 2.0 supersampling @ 3440x1440 100hz when I'm not using my HTC Vive. I have seen screenshots and videos of people at the galactic core and Sagittarius A* and the they are surrounded by bright starts that as close as 1ly away due to the density. But in my client I don't see any of that, its all just a brownish maroon cloud of dust that blocks out everything. Unusual as I have watched youtube videos of players in the same area and the scenery for them is spectacular.

Anyone know what might be the problem?

I went through my screenshots and the galactic core looked the same when I made the trip to Sagittarius A*. I believe the light background color represents the stars being so dense that they sort of blend into a solid color instead of being individual dots on a dark background.

Its not a Problem.
Its intended.

Your Surrounded by Tons of Light Sources and are sitting in the Center of the Galactic Dust Cloud we call Milkyway.
So the effect is similar to seeing a Lamp through a Dust Cloud. You get this Brownish backround of Stars only being able to see the closer ones as individuals because the ones further out have mixed their light so much that you cant tell which light comes from which star anymore.

you need to move away from the main star in system ... 10-15k ls.

Yeah this is my guess too, maybe you are just too close to the main star in the system and it's drowning out the starlight?

I haven't been to Sag A since the Distant Worlds trip, but here is how it looked for me over a year ago, plenty of stars in the sky:

Also dust. There's quite a bit of dust particles closer to the center, I would think.

All my screenshots were taken from over 10,000 ls from nearest star.

I always fly a significant distance from star to allow for brightness to dissipate. Seems to matter not, its almost as if stars within 10 ly will not render on the skybox. I have flown all around the galactic core, above, below etc. Always this brown haze and low star density. Nothing like what I have seen in youtube videos from other players and screenshots.

I just arrived at SagA*. I'll take some pictures and upload in a bit to compare.

what's your settings on quality of galaxy map? afaik that also applies on skybox.

Pictures from SagA*

Here are some pictures:

This one I find a bit interesting:

It seems like when I'm moving around that there's a break in stars rendered, and then segments without actual stars and only the dust. I've seen it during my journey here as well at other places. There's been places with a very sharp line, even a corner, where the stars seem to be in a box, while there are no stars outside it.

I have every setting maxed out, including galaxy map settings, quality, etc. Sliders also maxed.

Perhaps my issue is related to SLI?

my pc:

Intel Core i7 6850k @ 4.0
Asus Rampage V Edition 10
64GB Corsair Dominator Platinum DDR4 3000mhz (8x8GM Dimms, Quad Channel)
2X EVGA Geforce GTX 1080 FTW in SLI w/ EVGA HB SLI Bridge
Corsair AX1200i PSU
Samsung 950 Pro 512GB PCIe M.2 x4 (OS Drive)
Samsung 850 Evo TB SATAIII (Data/Game Drive)
Acer Predator x34 UWQHD G-Sync Display 3440x1440@100Hz

It looks like this because there are so many stars in the vicinity. It is intended, there is nothing wrong with your screenshots. :)

EDIT: (Hmmm, although taking another look at your screenshots - I see what you mean)

This is a bug Frontier are looking into. When the star density becomes too high, stars start disapearing from the "sky box". It is not entended and you can see that effect before reaching sag A as you see low and high density star regions in the sky marked by very clear lines.
