After action report of the events of 23 December 3300:
A news bulletin was received notifying CMDR Lightwarrior that his business contact Senator Patreus has launched a full scale invasion in the system Durius. The past messages have proved very eventful; running the Kappa Fornicus blockades and fighting in the Eranin Civil war. So this was an easy choice to assist the senator on the mission to reclaim past debts.
The newly formed combat wing of Buddha Tribe has yielded some great results in our home system of Frey. Able to mine, bounty hunt and bring vast sums of rare commodities back to Garret Station, we decided to journey to this mysterious system on the borders of Empire and Federation Space.
Could this be the start of a war? Will the Federation intervene due to an illegal occupation of an independent world by the Empire? We have to find out. Only time will tell, but for now we have to reach Durius.
We left as a wing of six on open play. Names are callsigns for BT security reasons. Loose lips sink ships.
Our wing composed as:
CMDR Thirty-Three (Viper)
CMDR OMG Im on Fire (Viper)
CMDR Lightwarrior (Blingle)
CMDR Rothschild (Eagle)
CMDR Karnage (Eagle)
CMDR Popeye (Sidewinder)
Overview:
During this trip, we were able to see each other at every star. It was amazing to see us land each time and align to the next star which needed to be called out. There were times which we had to wait for others who were behind, as this is a rather new concept we were trying to test. It is not easy to get a group of people to stay together. Having a scout +1 into the next system helps greatly if others are low on fuel and an alternate star must be reached. Once we hit our halfway point, fuel was plentiful on the rest of the voyage.
Our 97ly journey took an eventful 2 hours. We laughed, we watched a friend burn alive by a star, we laughed some more, jumping and jumping away; pinging our dscan "biiiiiooooooooooooooong".
As we finally made the last few jumps to Durius, as well as the 200,000+ Ls Subwarp flight to the station to save. I felt this great satisfaction watching all of us on the radar in supercruise flying 200,000 Ls together on Open Play, knowing that together we kept as a close group. Together we traveled and shared that experience. Together we worked as a team to problem solve when the need arose.
When we finally arrived to the station in Durius, we were met by a friendly NPC queue waiting patiently to dock. The six of us took our turns docking to save, refuel, reload and the like.
We picked up the warzone missions and tried to warp in the high conflict zone.
This is where we ran into major problems with the Open Play servers.
This completely broke immersion and we eventually had to leave open play and go to private group for this very reason. We even landed on the first person to land at the Conflict zones FSD Wake. All of us did, and it instanced us into different sites. Supercruise worked fine though, we could always see each other, but never ran into other players besides ourselves. I was really wishing someone else was able to see us traveling in a group.
But once we all finally went into private group. We were able to go to the warzone and eradicate System Defense Force Vessels to our hearts content.
We eventually started getting tired as it was almost 4AM; so we traveled to Vaka to dock and stage out from for the next few days to see how the situation evolves in Durius over the course of the next week.
TLDR: We made a voyage and shot things, amazing memories were had. Christmas came early this year. Thanks FD. See you in 3301. Enjoy the break!
But please when you come back please fix open play and somehow allow up to at least 64 people in an instance. I don't mind waiting over a year to land on planets, I just want open play to be fixed so it really IS a seamless open world that has the highest potential to connect others to everyone else who is in that system. I understand the station concerns as docking pads are limited, but if there is a queue system implemented, I hope to see 128 people and beyond instanced together in 3301 and beyond!

It finally hit me what this game is capable of. I have never seen something bring my friends together like this before. It was a great experience I have to say.

Fingers crossed the feds intervene. I am just a neutral observer contracting myself out to the highest bidder.
