BT postpones my E: D Alpha

Alpha woes thread.
I'll start with mine.

BT and the local energy contractor have conspired to prevent me participating in the Alpha.:(:S

During some work being carried out up the road today all the phone services in my area are down. The BT site says the problem is known but states a resolution date of midnight on the 13th. :eek::mad:

So Frontier take you time no rush for Alpha testing to start this week. ;)

lol.. and OH how DO you cope for a WHOLE week for the "suggested" resolvement day..

I often wonder if they know what the problem is...why they don't just fix it... rather than working up to it!!

Good luck void and dare I say that it gives you plenty of time to knock up some ALPHA cakes for us fellow alpha-ers seeing as we now have to wait for you...

Was on tv here just yesterday. Costs hundreds of millions per year when they dig and break cables and gas pipes and what else they put in the ground. There are maps, usually more or less precise, that show where everything is, but often they don't use them or have bad staff that can't read them.

Usually they fix it all within hours. Can't remember my cable was down for longer than ...less than a day. Electricity is like 99.9% available, may be the most reliable in the world if you ask me.

I'm sure the Friday date is just BT managing customer expectations.

So sorry to hear that Void Sun. That is most inconvenient.

One of my personal problems at the moment is that I have just come home from work and found out that the dog has taken a dump on the carpet.

Should I start a new thread to let everybody know?

That was so dripping with sarcasm that, having just read it, I now need a towel.

Look at it another way, BT are actually funding your ability to play ED. They are contractually obliged to give you some money back for the disruption of service (you have to nag them a lot to get it though).
Besides, i wouldn't be surprised if the alpha builds aren't out until wednesday or later - so you won't miss much :)

My apologies Void Sun. My previous comment was a bit below the belt but this place is not really the ideal place to post personal problems.

Although I sympathize with you on your broadband issue, it helps if you post messages about the game itself. Maybe you have some idea's that you could share with the rest of us....

Sorry to hear about your BT problems - I know what that is like...

As to if this was the right place to post it... I believe we are a community, a very good one at that compared to some of the others I have found myself in.

It's only natural that as part of the community we 'chat' with each other through it.

I loved the thread about the broken PC/motherboard that was some weeks ago and the help that our community came forward with. That defined the spirit of this community in a nutshell for me.

Darn my lack of income! Accursed student status! What I would give to join in the Alpha...guess I will just have to satisfy my insatiable hunger for all things Elite by trawling the forums until beta stage 2 happens.
