Bubble taxi build?

So, this is "Ollie". My bubble taxi.

Basically, my dilemma is whether or not to fit a cargo rack.

I figure that if I don't fit a cargo rack I'm probably not going to attract pirates and, in that case, I can probably bin the shield as well.
If I do that I get longer jump-range and I can fit a DC for a more relaxed taxi experience.
But, I can't carry any cargo in my taxi.

Alternatively, if I fit a cargo rack then I can carry some stuff around with me (or scoop anything useful I find) but cargo attracts pirates which means I should probably fit a shield as well, and between the shield and the cargo, my jump-range is reduced.
And it also means no DC so I actually have to land for myself.

So, faced with that choice, which way would you go?

Alternatively, if you've got a different suggestion then I'd be happy to hear it.[up]

Considering some passengers require you to pick them up some cargo you may need that cargo rack.

Erm, I'm talking about "taxi" in terms of a ship I can cheaply transfer around the bubble to collect me so I can get around my other ships.

I use what i refer to as my "Paper Conda" or "Mod o Conda"

Basically, i own a second, stripped down anaconda with a 60 LY jump range. I use it to engineer stuff and to get around.

The anaconda can fit most modules in the game. The exceptions being, other hulls, thrusters size 4 and below, size 8 stuff and class 3 or below shields. Everything else can be modded using the annie.

It makes modding a fleet in mass way easy and doubles as the best taxi in the game. Its even pretty cheap to have delivered

I do this more than I should.
5k Cr is a pretty cheap cab fare. Buy here - sell there; lose 10% move the other ships up.
Or actually I used to do it a lot. Even had a yellow skin to put on. But these days I'd rather call in the Asp go wherever then call in whatever else I need. It's a lot more expensive, but because of my play style; I might move to a region for a week, which makes bringing in the fleet (or the useful bits) economical.

Why would you want to bring cargo in your "personal taxi" especially when it's unable to run away from psychos while carying comodities?

My fav is the DBE, it's easy to go >50lys allready and it still gets a hull reduction buff with 2.3 - several times more expensive, but several time more usefull.

You do know you can transfer ships/modules right? Unless you are trying to save credits....

Pretty much my "go to" ship for getting around. Can't wait for the incoming upgrade.

My hauler taxi is A rated with enhanced drives, does about 600m/s. Be adventurous, install that cargo rack but have an escape plan :)

If transport to another ship location is the thing then add a fuel scoop, D-rate the ship with an A-rated FSD and instant taxi with a great jump range. Adding more modules isn't needed to get to your next ship. If scooping cargo along the way is desired then a slightly faster Adder with an additional module slot would be better. A Docking Computer? If you need one of those then let's get the flying skills down with repeating 25 manual departure/arrivals at an orbiting station from different angles. If one cannot expertly fly and land a Hauler I see a bad day coming with larger more expensive ships.

Is this a taxi that you buy, use, and vendor? Or is it a persistent member of the fleet? Your post implies the latter, just want to make sure I'm on the same page.

Post 2.3, you could consider building a Dolphin.

Are you married to the Hauler? DBX makes a very serviceable alternative, with a little bit more elbow room while still being cheap(ish) to summon.

In my Hauler, I swap modules as and when required. Fuel tank, cargo, whichever really. https://eddp.co/u/SsLdrtJk

TBH, yeah. I probably am.

It's a bit silly, I suppose, but I like to have specific ships for specific jobs.
Flying the Hauler makes me feel like I'm "taking a holiday" from having to worry about everything else in the game.
I can't really do much with it except travel from A to B so it gives me a bit of time to chill out.

I currently have a DBX kitted out as a "rapid response vehicle" for collecting black boxes, doing surface recoveries and investigating tip-offs.
If I used a DBX as a taxi I'd probably end up trying to do too much with it and then it'd stop being "relaxation time" when I fly it.

I was, basically, just wondering if people JUST use their taxi-ships for getting themselves from A to B or whether they do more with them.
