Ships Bubble Taxi Issue - Hull Integrity Compromised

I'm in the habit of leaving specialized ships in different places around the bubble for particular purposes, which is probably something many commanders are familiar with. I'll often ship a bubble taxi from place to place for convenience. My taxi is currently a DBX (~74 LY range), but shipping costs for it were annoyingly high so I designed a new one - a Hauler.

The Hauler gets a touch over 63 LY, but doesn't have any shields. I've run into this issue where when it launches from stations I immediately get the "hull integrity compromised" warning. I'm assuming this is because the minor damage you get from launching (after rounding) is a large enough fraction of the haulers total hull that it exceeds the triggering threshold for this warning.

The simplest way of doing this seems to be to add small shield, but that either means increasing the rating of the Power Plant to compensate or to disable the Power Distributor and Cargo Hatch.

Questions:
Is there any other way to suppress this warning? After all, the damage is minor and I wouldn't lose a couple of LY of range.
What are the drawbacks to disabling the power distributor? I'm thinking for this use case almost none - but I could be missing something

For a pure bubble taxi the only downside to disabling the distributor is you won't be able to boost.

I did this and can still boost. If the wiki is correct, the only thing you can't do when you disable the distributor is change pips. It says they stay the same as when you disabled it. Kind of wondering if anyone has tested that.

As far as I can tell, there's no real drawbacks except being unable to change pips for this use case. Hauler still gets almost 61LY, so all good. Now if I could just get rid of the navigation lights shining through the roof of the cabin ....

I use the Dolphin as a taxi as it's fast nice to fly decent range and the ability to fit a large fuel scoop, if it's built in low heat configuration https://edsy.org/s/vUqpnEx you can scoop very quickly and jump almost immediately after scooping, with multiple jumps this will make a lot of difference.

As a more general purpose build this https://s.orbis.zone/fx7y is what I use, great for bubble hopping and mat collecting (SRV and DMWE)

If you use something as a bubble taxi you do not need a big scoop imo. Mostly you can just tank at a station. So I fitted a 'emergency' 2A scoop.
I advise bringing two SRVs.. So you can ditch one when it is more 'convienient'

Thanks, but I'm not sure why I would spend 5 times as much when I'm trying to minimize transfer costs. Especially for a ship with less range

Need a big scoop? probably not but as we say over here "yer better lookin' at it than lookin' fer it!" ;) after all how many times have you wanted a big scoop and all the station sells is a 2E.

Granted the Dolphin is more expensive than the Hauler, however if you build both with max jump range and total unrefuelled range as the focus the Dolphin has significantly better performance.

Hauler https://s.orbis.zone/fx__

Dolphin https://s.orbis.zone/fy00

It also has the flexibility to allow reconfiguration into other roles e.g. it's great for chasing DMWE at distribution centres, small cargo hauling, passengers etc, if you spend a fair bit of time bouncing around the bubble it's s much better ship to be in.

I really don't need the taxi to be reconfigurable at all, or to have a high range (because Fuel Scoop). The point is to get from point A to point B as fast as possible while simultaneously keeping the transfer cost low as low as possible. Having to find a station to dock and buy fuel is counter productive. I built the hauler to do that, but I have to admit it lacks style - that's beginning to bug me a little :p. Might take another look at the dolphin.

You want style? Fly backwards through the mail slot. It's the person who dictates style, not the object. Everyone went from MPVs to Crossovers, becuase they thought MPVs were uncool. However, now the Crossovers are uncool, and I'd say the MPVs are now cool, becuase the cars weren't the problem, it was the people driving them.
