Hey Cheetah, how's it going?

We mostly chat on Discord now, but I think once we work out how the changes for Odyssey are going to be accommodated then we might keep the dust off a bit more. You should join the Discord though :) just use the browser version.

Just in case there's others like me that can't stand Discord, so they don't get the news of a new race until after the fact, there's a Buckyball Race starting on the 3rd:

Thanks a million Darkfyre, I always forget about this thread now we have the Discord.

For what it's worth I've also been promoting the race on twitter, facebook and various other forum threads + it was mentioned on last week's Elite Week podcast and will get a feature interview on this week's episode + Frontier mentioned it on Supercruise News and it's in the official Lavecon programme and on our own Buckyball website. It's always been a problem getting the message out there about Buckyball races (and I HATE the idea of people who want to take part not hearing about it). Fingers crossed for the new "events calendar" initiative that @Zac Cocken mentioned on Supercruise News and if that ever ends up being actually in-game that would be truly awesome! (one step at a time tho' - looking forward to the web version first).

Quick heads up on this old forum thread to let anyone who's not on the Discord or other social media platforms know that something very exicting is happening this year with Buckyball Racing which means we have a whole championship season of 8 races set to kick off in February.

In addition Bruski is in the middle of putting together a race for this month.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

It looks like I've lost control of the Buckyball Racing Club's website at http://www.buckyballracing.org.uk/

The site is owned by drakhyr who's long since left the world of Elite: Dangerous. Before he went he gave me the website's html source plus the ftp login details required to continue making updates to the live site, which I've been doing ever since.

Unfortunately the hosting site (123-reg.co.uk) has migrated the site to a new "cPanel hosting platform" (whatever that means) and the new ftp details (which they won't give me since I'm not the site's owner) have changed. What this means is that, although I can access the old ftp site and continue to transfer updates for things like the home page and past events pages to it, these are no longer the pages being served by the live site which is now stuck in its Braking Badly incarnation since the migration.

We could of course register a brand new site but I doubt we could have the old URL redirect people to it (since that is stil owned by drakhyr who I've been unable to contact), and to be honest I'm reluctant to do so since a website feels like a slightly old fashioned and unnecessary overhead these days.

So, if you want the latest news about what's happening in the world of Buckyball Racing then, like it or loathe it, I think the Discord server is the place to go (to be honest that's been where the bulk of the community action has been happening for years now and updating the website has been something of an after thought).

We will of course continue to use the Events section of this forum for individual race details so do keep an eye out there but if you really don't won't to miss upcoming races then join the discord and watch out for the #announcements channel (don't worry, we try and keep pings to a minimum).

Ok, I've given in and signed up for Discord: something else to figure out... grumble grumble grumble

Come to the dark side, we have, ummm, beermats? :)
It tells you something about how much I dislike “chat” style discussion boards, that no only did I not change my password from before I started using a password manager (about five years ago IIRC), but you all had moved to a new server two years ago. And Discord apparently changed their Username standards. Thankfully, Darkfyre99 was still available. :)

Still, looking forward to the new race. There’s been far too many races lately where real life needed to take priority. :( This one takes place during the brief lull between Black Friday and when Christmas sales really take off. :)

Excellent, glad I timed it well for you.
