All right folks, hate to say it but BBR8 is on hold and won't be leaving the starting gate on Jul 18. No need to rush back from wherever you are. There will be a week's notice before the new start gate. Bucky apologizes for the inconvenience.

I've requested for the mods to close this thread be closed so it won't keep rising to the top so don't hassle 'em about it. :)

WOOHOO!!! May I respectfully request the time be moved to about 7:30pm Melbourne time so that I can do this after my kids are in bed? Thanks. If I have not finished dinner can we just wait around until after?

So what do you mean by 'core systems'? I know some people call human space 'the core', but a lot of explorer type folk use core to mean the galactic core, you know Sag A and lots of stars, that kind of stuff. Explorers tend to call human space 'the bubble'

I'll be there. Looking forward to it :)

And I think the bumper sticker gives a strong clue that the course is likely to be around the heartlands of the major powers (i.e. centre of the bubble for those who prefer that wording!)...

Mmmm, got those 7A thrusters running real nice ...

Now I just need to figure out how to graft them on to my Eagle :D

Nice vid, always live a bit of nitro.

OT i'm new to all this but like the idea, what's roughly going to be involved first to check in at xyz stations? Also are there likely to be permit requirements so i've got time to grab them?

No, we don't use permit systems with the exception of Sol for Buckyball Run A* (which had Wolf 359 as an alternative). :)

Check-ins have usually just been screenshots docked with the station clock visible, but this run might be different.

Click here for a list of the previous Buckyballs and how they were run...
No permits, no restrictions. That's how it works. Get from A to B to C as fast as you can. (Or down to J in this case.)

Now admittedly... Powerplay factions may make this run a little more challenging. But hey, you really gonna let The Man (or Woman) tell you what you can and can't do? I didn't think so. :D

The actual conditions and goals of the run aren't posted until race day, but it's set up so anybody can run it regardless of allegiance.

Watch this space for coming attractions!

But, but I only just got to Sagittarius A! Gotta get back quick then! I'm putting the challenge out there for commanders nickelpede and tempest!

How to participate? Xbox One users can?

Once again, you can read about the previous races here. That will give you an idea of how all this plays out.

As Esvandiary pointed out, XBox participation is an interesting question. On the surface, it shouldn't be a problem but I can think of two complications.

1) Mac and PC share the same universe, XBox is in its own. So will XBox CMDRs be at an advantage or disadvantage because of this, or is the experience the same? (time between jumps, chance of interdictions, ship performance etc.)

2) A condition of the race is that CMDR's have to be able to submit screenshots and/or video of their times. So how easy/hard it will be for XBox CMDRs to send screenshots via email, or post them to a site like Imgur?

If neither 1 or 2 are a problem, I don't see why not. The more the merrier!

The fact that we are running in open with more players gives us a disadvantage but that is so small that I really don't think we should exclude people because of it. Maybe an xb1 time section?
