Budget cockpit

Those pilots who are hardcore into flight sims of any vein probably have what they need for their cockpit.

Personally I don't have what I want because I am a broke college student who was only able to afford ED because someone gave me some christmas money and even then it was a decision between buying ED and eating ramen noodles for a week, or skipping on ED and actually being able to afford healthy food. Lets just say I had ramen noodles for breakfast this morning and leave it at that.

For my cockpit setup I use a cheap EarForce headset with voice attack, a Belkin Nostromo n52te which I picked up back in 2009 when they were about 50-60 USD, and a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro that I got at around the same time.

This is a pretty affordable setup for anyone who wants to put together a cockpit to fly with instead of using a mouse. The only downside is that the Belkin Nostromo is no longer made and to find one on amazon is gonna cost you more than a HOTAS. However, Razer makes something very similar to the Nostromo that will substitute just fine. This particular piece of hardware is called the Razer Tartarus Gaming Keypad.

The Logitech Extreme 3D Pro is a really good joystick for the price,. As I said before I got mine in 2009 to setup a cockpit for Freespace 1 and 2 and it still works just as good today as it did when I bought it. It has some weight to it which is nice as it not something to break easily. These can still be found on for pretty cheap at less than 40 USD.

The nice thing about this setup is that you can very easily use this in tandem with a mouse for when you need to go into FPS shooter mode. This is very similar to what I do with ARMA 3. I'll pilot a helicopter with my joystick and Nostromo and then once I am on the ground all I have to do is switch over to the mouse.

If anyone else has any suggestions for setting up a budget cockpit or setting up a cockpit in general feel free to add on.
