Buff the Imperial Clipper

I'm not talking about its modules or base values. Instead I'm talking about the convergence of the Clipper's weapons. With the introduction of the Imperial Clipper I saw that the way they handled its weapon convergence is by angling the weapons so that it is accurate at long range but really widespread at close range, which makes sense. The clipper on the otherhand just has godawful convergence regardless, making fixed weapons either a pain in the ass to use by having to aim really offcenter or having fixed weapons on both sides pretty much unusable. This forces the majority of Clipper users to use gimballed which makes it hard countered by any chaff user. This is all I ask as a buff to the clipper.

No, leave it alone. I love playing Chicken with Clippers in a CZ. Their fixed lasers blasting away non-stop but both missing me either side, its a HOOT

I quite agree, and while you are at it could you make The Anaconda, faster, lighter, cheaper add a few more hardpoints please?

Some people don't seem to understand that things like HP placement are part of the overall balancing. The clipper is awesome, but it has drawbacks. It HAS TO HAVE drawbacks, else everybody would use one. This is the most obvious drawback of the clipper, leave it. Else you would have to nerf something else to compensate, perhaps make it slower...

Given all the "Courier is crap" and "Diamondback is dumb" commentary we've had, and now this, I had better just type this out for people to copy paste into their posts;

Dear Mr Braben.

I'm not asking for much. I just want a killer doom ship of death that is good at everything. I know you and the Frontier team work hard to finely balance these ships, so there is plenty of uses for each and minimal obsolescence, but that isn't what I want. I only want a ship that is the fastest, the strongest, the most powerful, with the biggest hardpoints, maximum range, minimal fuel use, low repair costs, and perfect hardpoint positions. I also want this ship to be dirt cheap, until I buy it, and then I want the it to cost 500,000,000 for everyone else.

And while you're at it, get rid of insurance.

Yours sincerely.

You forget the 10% on selling modules.

"This is all I ask"

Alright sir. Anything else? You sure?

LOL.

Quite sure now that they added in extra fuel tanks for 1.3 "LOL"

I've looked through the game options, and I can't work out how to bind the "win" key.

Cute sarcasm except the current state of the Clipper is to have easy to use gimballed or turrets and in fights where enemies use chaff, run away. I don't see why this is that big of a deal. At close range the convergence is still as terrible as it is currently.

The clipper is fine; most it'd need is a slight maneuverability buff (keyword; slight, the thing's a damn tank defensively), plus, like the Python, its modules are almost impossible to knock out.

You mean something like giving it weak shields? ... oh wait... :)

Please explain how this is that big of a deal? The clipper already has massive drawbacks in having a fueltank/jump range and weak shields for being a large ship and not being able to land on medium pads unlike the "large" python. Even the python and anaconda have good weapon convergence. All this does is make fixed weapons slightly more viable (the fixed weapons will still have bad convergeance the closer you are to enemies) Doing this is actually realistic because the current ship weapons don't even converge and are made parallel which makes 0 sense.

Then i want my python to be buffed. :)

The Python/Anaconda don't have a 22 mil price tag (both are more than twice that), nor do they have a boost speed that rivals most other ships in the game with the agility of a fighter.

Have one fixed weapon and one gimballed.

Really I'm just jealous because I still can't afford the clipper :)

Every ship requires balance. This unfortunately means that each ship must have an achilles heel. There is no perfect ship, otherwise everyone would buy it and therefore stalemate.

You have to work around the problems of power management in a Vulture, or the wide spread hardpoints on the Clipper. Effectively dealing with these sort of problems contributes to the differences between a good combat pilot and a great combat pilot.

Have the fixed weapons on the nacelles on different fire groups (and optionally of different types) and fire with whichever one is lined up.
