I get you were a newbie a very very long time ago and already forgot what is it like not being able to do things because you cant even afford an A power plant(without using the above mentioned exploits)
I’ve not forgotten: I remember spending a very long time doing nothing but courier missions for peanuts in order to up my rank enough to get higher paying missions and move onto the next ship. I went Sidewinder -> Cobra MkIII then on to a Python - which was my original “I’ll never get further than this” target - alongside a Viper MkIV for Combat. There was also a DBX in there somewhere which I then kept as my “long range” ship until the Krait Phantom replaced it. As you can probably tell, that was from just playing the game not chasing any “exploits” for quick cash.
That Viper MkIV whetted my interest in Combat but I got obliterated if I went into a HAZRES so I started chasing two ships: the FdL and the Corvette. I will agree Credits were a barrier to the FDL (in the end I sold my Python to afford one) but the Corvette was far harder to get due to the Fed Rank grind rather than credits. A-rating that Corvette took quite a while - I ran with Class D Thrusters and A-grade but undersize PP / PD for some time.
yes, but again you are talking about times you had 500million. all my ships are not worth that much for now, or well, might just be there now, thanks to all the exploited money earning possibilities, but there was no sense of progression. i had a sidewinder, a keelback and then an anaconda. there was no reason to play anything else because there is no progression just exploitable activities. and truth is, fd had to do this because there are NO any activities you could do between these points other than grind. btw, yes, all the other activities are the same as earning credit. the grind for materials or the guardian sites are the same stupid as i've read about it. it starts ok but becomes a rinse and repeat stuff
My point on the 500 million was that it could have 100 million or 10 billion and it still would have been irrelevant. Once you have the ships, it’s not Credits that holds you back. If you’re not there yet, great - it’s easier to get there now!
It sounds like, rather than the “prestige” activities rewarding more you are actually saying there needs to be more “in between” activities? On that, I agree. For example, Elite Assassination missions with a sensibly engineered ship are fairly trivial. The next step up is an Elite WING Assassination mission and I am simply not good enough to solo those as my shields can’t cope with 6 ships shooting me simultaneously. Some Dangerous (engineered target) and Deadly (wing of 2 or 3) Wing Assassination missions or the same thing but classed as Double Elite and Triple Elite solo missions (like double-black / triple-black ski runs) would be a nice step up from the current top-of-the-line solo missions without requiring a wing.
