Welcome to the forums. If this have been happening since the last Update, a few days ago, it may be the same issue that other's are having. Many have reported freezes. (It's been mentioned on the Steam forums and is posted on the Issues Tracker.) If you would like to add to the report the link is below.

You can definitely try what Urufu1997 mentioned first to see if that will help fix this for you
