Bug Hunting

I'm going bug hunting this Tuesday, February 27th, Internet willing. Anyone want to join my wing? I'm not talking Thargoids, I'm talking about those other bugs that were introduced alongside the Thargoids in 2.4.

I'll use this thread to document my findings, which I am hoping beyond (hehehehe) hope will all be positive. I'll also use the bug report forum as needed, but it'll be handy to have a single thread here to validate observations before filing 'official' reports, IMO.

I will be poised ready to link all my old reports if I find they have not been fixed. :)

1. Judder / jitter in supercruise when approaching stellar bodies
2. HUD/UI judder / shake in stations
3. Full Partial screen flash / flicker / corruption
4. Planets texture issues (become smeared) when in fast orbit.

There are probably many more. :)

But yes, I will be keeping an eye out.

Edit: I noticed this from our Xbox colleagues.

... I noticed this from our Xbox colleagues.

A lot, if not most of the bugs are cross-platform, I'll admit. Even my dreaded "seizure-inducing flickering shadows" bug has supposedly also been seen on XBox platforms. Thankfully, every bug that "bugs" me has received the official "Please let us know if this continues after the 3.0 update" stamp of acknowledgement. That said, I've seen multiple 'speculative fixes' released in the past that did not fix the problem, hence this thread ;)

My personal favourite.

"Welcome Lakon Lima Alpha Bravo. Federal flight control welcomes you. Please submit a docking request before entering the station."
"Docking request approved. Plot route for approach to landing pad four zero."

"This is Lakon Lima Alpha Bravo to Federal flight control. There seems to be a Beluga Liner on the landing pad you've just sent me to. You can't miss it. It's around 200 meters long and weighs over 1000 tonnes."

I must admit I have not had that in a very long time, I assume its still a thing? :)

At least one thing will change with this - you can be identified as something other than Lima Alpha Bravo if you want. I'm actually going back and changing some of my ship IDs to sound 'cool' via the phonetic alphabet :D

Now get back on topic, Old Duck!

I have noticed that the smearing also happens on XB1X version. The grass is not greener over there :)

Not in the game two minutes and I see one of my favorite features, gyroscopic headlook, is broken! Let the bug reports begin (remember that thread I made about this being our beta)......

I'm wondering if this is part of the fix for 8-bit cockpit textures, i.e. preventing us from looking at them!

Grrrr...

It really p:sses me off, because anyone playing the game with DS4 would discover this bug second they toggle headlook on. THIS is what makes me loose faith in Frontier, the complete lack of quality assurance...

Thankfully it should be an easy fix, as long as they don't force us to wait until the Q2 (or worse, Q4) update.

Check out my official bug report for details. I sure would like someone else to verify this.

In other news, I do think the graphics have been improved. Where I'm at right now is kinda dark, so once I do some engineering, I'll head to Mercury (I can't wait to see a non-beige Mercury) to look at things under a "bright light". Fingers crossed!

Verified, I am getting awful cockpit voice echo too. Verity sounds like she is in a metal tube or down a well.

Planets look lovely.

Found one bug - headlock and Hotas

before 3.0 I had headlock bindings : Toggle - Square+TopHat_Left .. it means I started and canceled headlock mode by pressing Square+TopHat_Left (then looking around by using tophat) .. worked OK

Now in 3.0 if works partially - I could start headlock mode but was unable to cancel it. Finally had to find another key-combo ... just now it is Triangle+L1, which works fine - toggle start and cancel, no problem now. Not sure why original Square+topHat_Left became unusable, as other "Tophats" combos still work fine .. like Landing gear, CargoScoop

Gah! I feel for you mate. I know how much you love/use that. Seriously, how can they miss that?

General graphics and LOD seem improved (impressively so in places), but unfortunately shadows are still ugly as sin, at least at Daedalus station above Mercury on my PS4 Slim....

I was at a planetary base last night where the levels were all off; some of the data points are half buried in the ground and at one point I got these two black squares on the ground moving around in front of me which gradually move around in r Latino to my SRV but not the actual ground. I thought this would be a good test. Here I am tonight, exact same thing. Even the ship on the landing pad is hovering a few meters above the pad.

I am happy to report that Earth, the Moon, and Saturn have all been fixed. While not a bug, the old beige Mercury really bothered me. Now Mercury looks like I would expect it to. All in all, SOL is much more enjoyable in 3.0! Even the ice moons seem to be improved!

ps - Saturn still seems a little bit too bright to me up close, but I think this will be fixed with the new lighting system.
