Bug, limitation or by Design ?

I personally hate that when you damage a mission target's hull and then go back in Super Cruise and intercept the target again, that it's hull resets back to 100%. Anyone else ? Should this be fixed ?
 
That's a limitation currently - the spawn in super cruise is simply entirely new (will often have new wing mates too).

I've heard that will change though.
 
Have you reported this in the bug reports sub forum? I would if I were you, it does annoy the heck out of me, when I stay damaged, but they magically repair when I interdict them again.
 
Yes, I found it particularly annoying when I was first starting out and not particularly good at combat. I jump to SC to get my shields back, after knocking my target down to around 54% and I would be at 70% after escaping. Find my target again in 2 minutes or so, thinking I'll finish him off and he is fully repaired and I'm stuck at 70%. It's not very easy going at the point in the game.

No I have not.

Yes exactly (about the new wing mates).

What I find the most annoying is not even the fact that you have a disadvantage but it really hurts the immersion and the persistent feel that I am looking for.
 
This Is not always the case, in my experience.

Ive been interdicted by NPCs, done some hull damage to them until my FSD came back up, then went back into SC only to have the same NPC follow me. The value/states of hull/shield stayed persistent.
 
The values are suppose to stay persistent nowadays. This was added somewhat recently, so I would send in a bug report.

That's slightly different, because those NPC are incidental, their lives are generated when you enter the system and end when you or they leave the system. The Assassination targets are spawned in the locations you are. You can see a target flying in super cruise and drop into a source signal some distance from them only to find them there as well, the same works in reverse. Every time they get spawned they are given the default values of full armour and shields.

Well to be honest, I have not played in a couple of weeks and I was on the forums and felt like posting this, so I will go test now. I hope you are right, that would be fantastic.
