Self-destructed last night. Just a Sidewinder, but still.
I had charted a multi-jump course, but half way through I could not continue because the jump would use more than .60 fuel or something. So the first question is, "Why did the game let me plot the course and start it if it was impossible for me?" Do the rules for possible jumps take into account current cargo load/jump range or only max possible jump range?
So back to the story.... I was only 0.2 ly short of being able to jump, so I tried to grind it out at supercruise to make up the distance to jump. Over an hour at 2001c later (I left the PC and watched some TV) I'd gotten close enough to target and burned enough fuel mass to raise my max jump until the two intersected and I should have been able to jump. However, trying to initiate hyperspace continued to give the same error message. I let it go another 15 minutes to be sure there weren't rounding issues in play. Even with 0.1ly greater jump range shown than distance shown, it still would not jump. The only option the game would allow was turning around and going back, which I no longer had the fuel for. Is this a bug, or are we not supposed to be able to do what I tried to do?
