Bug or Noob

I will not lie that as a experienced MMO player, im having some difficultyes to get the initial story line (farm, do missions, earn money, upgrade) at Elite Dangerous.

It looks like a very good game, but a little "noob unfriendly", even doing all solo missions.

But my learning curve is rising.

The problem (Bug ?) now is:

I had 12k (i know... i said im a noob here) and did buy 3 "marine equipament" to delivery at a near station where i was headint to deliver a mission.

I did buy it and didnt check the cargo, left the station and... as im getting close to the delivery station, i nottice that i dont have anything at my cargo.

i returned at the station, and cant find the cargo at any place.

Question: Am i doing something wrong or it was a bug ?

Bottom line:

Now im at a station with 79 CR, no FUEL, no Cargo, No mission to deliver.. no options and no meanning at life (thinking "how do i suicide :D ?!?! )

What am i doing wrong ?

Ty in advance.

Sounds like a bug to me. Did your ship have the 3 cargo slots available? A Sidewinder has only 2, unless I'm mistaken. *I was mistaken*

It happened to me one time that I filled my cargo hatch with the "+" button but forgot to press the "buy" button (or how ever it's labeled) afterwards. :(
I realized my mistake only when I wanted to sell the stuff at a station many lightyears away! :O

If you really want to commit suizide - you will find the option to self destruct on the last panel on the right side of your ship. ;)

Ty for the quick answers :)

1) The mission is not completed... so i cant deliver it.
2) Im using the basic ship with 4 cargo slots and had nothing on it before. And i had money to get only 3 Marine equipaments.
3) Well if i jetson the cargo... I really dont know ! I cont know how to do it.

Lets just assume i did ... what do i do now ? GAME OVER ? Thats it ?!?!

Well... i think this will be the option. But i think that i didnt forgot to hit "BUY" button... because the money was gone.

AnyWay...

Im going to end my misery at this world (or Universe if you preffer :) and will kill myself... AGAIN the first one was when i had to head to a sun because i had no fuel )

Thank you... see you all in another life... or another dimension !

Well, if your money is gone, you obviously really bought the stuff!
So it's either a bug or you really did jetison your cargo by accident.
It can happens very easily - just a few days ago I left a station when suddenly the whole scanner got white withe tons and tons of palladium floating araound; someone with a big trader had hit the DEL key by accident and was trying to scoop the stuff up again! :D

If you have no credits, fly to the nearest Nav beacon and shoot a few small wanted ships, you should be able to earn enough for some cargo.

Edit: And you won't need much fuel to get there either. If you can't see a Nav beacon on your navigation panel just supercruise toward the nearest star, it should appear when you are within 1000ls.

Thank you all for the very helpfull answers.

Another good point to this game the forum is active and usefull.

Man... the Jetisson thing is the only other option than bug. But i didnt saw messages about it.

UPDATE NEWS:

1) I was at stations with 0 fuel.. no Credits.
2) Try to suicide... but nothing happened.
3) so i decided to "Launch" the ship even without fuel (had nothing to loose :) )
4) Miraculous the ship appeared with full fuel !!!

But just to let you know.... i suicided anyway (it can only be done in space).

Now i will restart slowly... and will try to do what Sugarat sugested... gonna kill some bots to get credits... then try to go for other things.

Thanks all.

Could also sell or downgrade parts - eg sell weapons for some cash, get fuel, run a one way delivery mission, or sell shields and do that, or downgrade something if you have anything that can be downgraded. I know you already took the "become a space fireball" option, but just ideas for any future mishaps (or for others in a no cash, no fuel situation).

Unbind the jettison cargo key immediately. I'm sure that is what happened, as you are not aware of it's existence, meaning there is a single rogue key (I think it's "End") that dumps all of your money into space. Could end up costing you millions of credits, we have seen it here before. I would surmise that 90% of players that have been playing for more than a month, have unbound this key.

Beginning out, it's worth doing 'deliver' missions (take x to y) instead of fetch missions (we need x amount of z) until you know the area and where to find resources. Also these missions can be done when You have no credits, as you are given the goods instead of going and buying them.

If it's any consolation this forum has witnessed much worse starts then this. You'll be back on your feet in no time.

This. I think the default for this button is badly chosen - I changed it for Ctrl+Del. You won't hit that by accident.

For the next time: sell a laser or shield or whatever you have left and do a delivery mission or two. That's also a good way to get back on your feet. Bounty hunting also works of course, unless you're located in an anarchic system or already stripped your ship bare.

Also remember to honk your horn on entering every system (scan). It will give you extra cash by selling the data collected to Cartography. To scan just set the scanner to a fire group, I have my on group 2 and hold the right mouse button to fire it. :)
