Bug since Mining Patch? Has anyone also noticed this?

o7 :)

Has anyone else noticed this since the Mining Rebalancing "fix" ?

Source Missions seem now broken - especially the Wing ones -> You loose Money by doing them since the Materials you need to source are usually more Expensive than the Reward of the Mission.

See Screenshot ( Buy for 11.3Millions Gain: 7 Millions ) <-- Why should anyone do this ? :p

Cheers!

Do you lose money if you do wing missions as a wing?
I never look at them tbh.
There needs to be some re-rebalancing I think.

It's a wing mission, if 4 of you wing up and split the costs between you that's 2.8m outlay for the commodities you each pay, for a 7m reward, you each receive.

So the answer is to not do these wing missions alone.

However...your point is valid, there is a larger underlying issue with missions since the balance pass and price adjustments. FD haven't taken into account the increase in certain commodity prices when calculating mission rewards. A solo fetch mission for 1000 palladium now rewards less than the value of the commodity. i.e. you end up losing money.

Also in follow on haulage missions the recent adjustments to volume and distance that affect rewards has rendered follow on missions which were once paying fairly decent amounts to now pay tiny amounts (from 1.5m to 10k).

In conclusion, those who are looking at balancing and implementing the changes either don't understand the mechanics of their own game or are rushing through the changes without thinking it through...probably a bit of both.

FD are now breaking more than they fix with these changes, the more changes they make the more 'unforeseen' side effects it will produce and the more work they will have to correct them.

Yeah this is what i meant. Since ive been doing primairly fetch Missions i noticed that after the Balance i kept doing them wing and non wing to notice i gained maybe 1 mil in 2hours while constantly doing runs - especially without too good faction :p

Wing missions are meant to be done as wings. If you split the cost between four pilots, it's an overall profit (because each person gets the full reward)

Not condoning that design choice, it's simply what it is; an incentive to do it as a wing.

It's been a thing since well before the balance, usually for source missions involving expensive goods.

But was it like that before? Genuine question.
I remember doing some wing supply missions in the spring, when i was trying to flip a system and the board for that faction was a bit dry, but i'm pretty sure i did not come to a loss.

they always gave you a gain. even if not too much when doing alone but never a loss that i remember.

Yes, they definitely existed.

Disagreed. I always saw plenty which ran a loss... it usually only happened for things like palladium... now a bunch of stuff has price buffs, it's more obvious.

I can't dig them out now, but there's threads in the past noting this.

This only happens for wing missions.

Here's an example from 2018 with a quick google.

This parallels my experience since then.

Yeah, the 'understanding' part. The devs seem to keep testing in production as is typical, correct a few things and introduce a few more issue or rez old ones. Why not just throw some money at an actuary service and get the plan for the numbers down then implement in a non-prod environment, tweak, then deploy. I love the game but damn they can make it hard to appreciate at times, especially when they use the we have to be careful because we chose a proprietary game engine that is tempermental and does not hold well at scale. Oh well, back to exploring.

I've been doing wing missions for over a year to get high profit. They changed them but they can still be highly profitable if you choose right. It really helps to be allied with major and minor faction's. For me, the unprofitable ones are those that clip rewards at 50M. Since they raised the cost of metals, I see too many 50M clipped rewards.
