BUG: SRV Major Problems

When I press the button for accelerator once the SRV stands still for 3 seconds then it takes off like a bat out of hell uncontrollably and I can NOT controil the SRV the way I want to
It has a mind of its own which is extremely frustrating when trying to maneuver around the planet and around objects.
its like someone invisible sitting in the drivers chair and pressing the accelerator to max within 1 second and the SRV taking off like a bat out of hell at 1000000 miles per hour.

PLEASE for the love of god fix this problem.
I even set my controls to go 10% at a time, but that does NOT work or fix it, it keeps going to MAX acceleration (on its own) and takes off like a bat out of hell at 1000000 miles per hour and
I can NOT control the SRV at all.

I tend to find myself in a very frustrated mood after this happens several times now.

GRRR.

I feel your pain. I'm currently out in the black and using the SRV 100% of the time when on planets/moons looking for Bio Lifeforms. I too have set my SRV to increment in 10% speed increase at-a-time and yet, the SRV often speeds up uncontrollably. My only work-a-round is to tap the Drive-assist off button to 'reset' the SRV back to normal operation. This I have to do dozens of times or more the longer I am out searching for Bio Lifeforms.

Driving with Drive-assist Off is not safe enough when in high, rocky areas where a wrong turn can lead to a disasterous drop down a steep cliff.

Sadly yes

At least I am not going crazy and the only one experiencing this.
Why won't they fix this if its been going on for a while now for other people ? SMH.
Its so frustrating driving SRV. I am in a y mood now because of it.
And now when I want to go exploring on planets, I can't because I have to ask myself, (is it worth the headaches driving this damn thing). SMH.
I am VERY irritable right now because of the SRV.

Probably because most people don't have this problem? From the description, it looks like it only affects a subset from those players that are playing kb+m. Even trying to find out whether this is an effect of these player's control settings or a bug, independent of those settings, will take a lot of effort.
Unfortunately, ED has a lot of problems. Those will usually be ranked in terms of importance, and something that affects only some players some of the time are pretty far down that ladder 🤷‍♂️ .

x box pad right shoulder trigger accelerate ( auto returns to 0 just like a real accel pedal ;) )
left shoulder trigger brake to full reverse (ship too)
I don't seem to suffer this but admittingly aint spent a lotta time in srv as of L8

the difference in srv control between Horizons 3.8 and anything 4.xx is very noticable.

in 3.8 i usually have my srv pips the same as a ship and it works fine.

in any 4.xx the srv is hopped up on bennies and the very first thing I do is set pips to 4, 0, 2. - no pips to engines unless you want to boost.
I only put pips to engines once I get moving in a straight line and can then boost off the surface and up into the air, then I set full pips to engines and keep it there until I land
once I land I re-adjust unless I am just bouncing and boosting. aka srv flying.

the jist is as long as I need to turn or actually maneuver pips are 0 on engines.

and ofc the other part is for the srv fa on/off is like cruise control on a truck. and in any 4.xx it is pathetic and has a huge delay.
so bad a delay, set it to 5m/s and wait a minute or 2 for it to try to get there.....

I play on Keyboard and mouse.
And by the looks of things with the recent news, XBox wont be supported anymore if I read correctly by the recent announcement they made..
Something about , that they only want to concentrate on only PC release.
As mentioned here:

You can use an XBox controller on a PC you know. ;)

Console versions will still be available to play, just no further development.

ya never owned an x box pc only
I just use a standard usb xbox controller on pc
FA off too np (still cant beat kbm for ist person shooter though but use pad when not in combat ;) )
as for voice attack an track ir I don't leave dock without it!
(as close as pos to full on minamlistic vr setup hi res and without the toaster face syndrome so I can still scoff pi and see that the rum is in fact gone again

Ditto! I "discovered" this feature, too.

Finally decided to go exploring after grinding for credits and receiving invitations from some engineers. Bought Odyssey. Waited 6 hours for it to install.

Kitted out a DBX for farming materials -- including an SRV. Tried to operate the SRV's turret while driving using a Logitech Extreme Pro 3D controller. That's the exact same controller I use for piloting spaceships. Found the SRV to go from +100% to -100% with no in-between, roll on a blink, and induce motion sickness within a minute. Found that the turret moved like the DSS module, with movement between fixed dot-grid positions -- instead of smooth analog movement like that we experience while piloting spaceships. Tried many configuration variations for SRV Controls. Eventually gave up.

Remapped all the SRV and On Foot Controls to use the 108 extended keyboard's NUM PAD for navigation, Insert/Delete/Home/End/Page Up/Page Down and arrow keys for non-navigation controls, and the mouse for weapons and tool aiming. Much better, with smooth analog movement for aiming weapons and tools like that we experience while piloting spaceships, but still suffered from inability to operate the SRV's throttle and steering with any sanity. Then, I played around with Engine pips. Finally, some sanity with operating the SRV's throttle and steering.

But, I'm still struggling to operate both the turret and the SRV chassis with as much ease like I can the legs and torso of battlemechs while playing Mech Warrior Online.

Some day, I might even be able to kill one of those pesky site drones and a settlement guard.

Two days after my installation of Odyssey, and I'm still struggling with sorting out SRV and On Foot control settings.

Frontier: Why is merely the configuration of settings such a PITA?

Thanks, Pville!

I gave that a go. But, I feared losing full range of analog on turret. It worked like charm for SRV and On Foot. It's a usage adjustment for me because for flight I have Joy Y axis for pitch, hat for thrust. Of course, I had to set hat for SRV and On Foot pitch. Caveat: with 0 ENG power pips. For re-boarding, also with Cargo Scoop deployed.

To simultaneously move the chassis and turret, like the legs and torso of battlemechs while playing Mech Warrior Online, I kept shadow controls on the keyboard NUM pad for left-right, thrust, and power pips.

Here's my custom binds. It can be viewed through https://troynt.github.io/elite_dangerous_controls_reference/

shoudnt take too long to swap or rebind wsad keys for the arrow keys I am a southpaw too. though I only use kbm when in on foot wet work(for rapid mouse aim six there is no substitute period imo)
else I use the xbox controller as I find flight assist off stunt flying hard to do with a mouse as joypad sticks auto zero fast and rapid opposite lock quicker than any hotas though the small fine analog movements required took me a year to nimblethumb master(ground level scooping with a flat belly cobra is not for the faint of heart or good for very rocky terrain and larger ships ill advised for rapid tight landing areas)
though admittingly most prefer the cockkpit "feel" and "looks" of hotas I simply no longer care for and got rid of mine having tried most of the high end offerings too over the past decade now I am just purely a functionality freak and only my track ir remains of my old flight setup, as always voice attack is also a no brainer imo.(free to Indef try and" looks" totally awesome🤷‍♂️ )
"gear up"which speaks for itself an "tally ho" which switches to combat mode and deploys hardpoints o7
mind you I still have my great grans umbrella handel which I still have not adapted to try yet but it "looks" and would "feel" like the mutts nuts I think ;)

Nice! I happily trotted over to check your keyboard binds (I am a KBMer) till I realized... oh wait! I am a left-handed KBM user.
I lefty the NUMPAD and righy the Logitech Extreme Pro 3D, but if you lefty-mouse, then it should still be viable to righty the NUMPAD.

I find if I use the numpad I mistakenly hit the wrong key@times and prefer the arrows as they are isolated but to each there own I suppose...….

Many people prefer the WASD for movement, and keyboard digit and F keys. For me, that's too much hand travel.

I keep my thumb in the same spot for orientation. I like the NUMPAD because 16 keys vs 4 keys and less hand movement (faster, less errors when seeking other keys).
