(BUG) Taking damage when lifting from landing pad

I had it happen to me once and afterwards I realised the joystick throttle had gone out of calibration and was still registering a small forward thrust even when on zero, this would disable auto-launch, which I rarely ever use, and run me against the obstructions at the end of the pad, but that sort of thing is pretty noticeable so I doubt it's that!
Yeah, I can see how that could happen but indeed it would be noticeable and it has definitely not been that when it has happened to me.

I use KB + mouse, rebound for an FPS-style precise-control setup, instead of the confusing-as-hell setup Frontier forces on everyone. Not a single flight thrust movement setting uses any type of analog interface / incremental controls, so no issues there... HOTAS is a nightmare to set up and use, especially for new players, and I originally cut my teeth flying the old DOS floppy-based "Star Wars X-Wing", "Aces of the Pacific", and "Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe" flight sims with a joystick + KB on my 386/SX20.

Once I have begun the auto-launch sequence, I do not even touch a flight-related button until after I have left the mail slot. This happens in the game, on its own, without any external influence, ie, a BUG!
oh alrighty then when you put it like that I am not elitist sure use DC by all means I just want to know what causes the problem for you
and that by may be using the process of elimination find the cause ie flight landing overrides docking computers or just a plain old bug etc
now I couldnt give a monkeys toss so good luck with that
I already stated what "the problem" was, and it is GAME CODING! I use the ADC to take care of everything related to getting me through the mail slot (both ways), and do not touch anything unless I am in space or the damn code for the auto-launch bunches up ships in front of the slot, pushing them into each other, and then wants to fine / destroy me for "loitering" since it won't launch anybody, at which point I have to launch myself through the slot... Or else my ship gets blown up and/or I go to a prison ship for getting and paying a minor fine that is the fault of the game's code!

If you had read the previous entries and replies up to that point, you would have already seen that others also said they experienced the same thing - with or without a DC.

Also:

alternatively do a zaphod beeblebrox an take an axe to that docking computer
free up some space and take piloting back to its roots ya lazy dogs...……………..
personally I have never used one and no problems so far

"I am not an elitist...." :rolleyes:

I can't agree with you there. Every Autopilot should have a manual override. Look what happened to those two Boeing 737 MAXs that crashed.

@STRONTIUM DOG
There is nothing wrong with being lazy. That is why the lever and wheel were invented. :p

There IS a manual override: accelerating even 1Km/s will cancel auto-dock or auto-launch. It still doesn't stop the auto-DAMAGE as soon as the docking clamps are released... :rolleyes:
