BUG - Unknown Fines randomly occuring.

Hello,

As I am playing Odyssey my character is gathering random fines. I am not performing illegal activities, but for some reason the fines just keep piling up... I only play Solo.

Thus far I have several:

100,000
100,000
200,000
62,500

I have only been playing legal missions up to this point. I again have no idea how I got these, nore is there any information on why I got these...

If this is by design, that as we fly around we just get horrendous fines then I would like a refund as this is not what was advertised: A space Totalitarian Sim where you are constantly watched by an omnipotent God of Fines...

This is not enjoyable and if I wanted this I would just have to leave my house and walk around down town... Who thinks this is fun? Its like 1984 in space...

Thank 'F' cakes... I was hoping its a bug... It feels like a bug... But with ED you never know how 'Real' they want it...

Cheers for the assist!

I've noticed the NPC fine you and thrust a wanted bounty on you if you have the scanner tool out instant No No In Game, and I think it really needs to be adjusted as well as the cloning option needs a way to delete the cloned profile once you have finished with it. Strongly need a delete function on the players side. Do Not implement a one time use delete option as this takes emersion out.

I noticed one thing.
Maybe you can check this.
It could be these fine are due to failed or abandoned missions.

Hmmmm... Maybe, but why would a mission failure result in a fine far bigger than the reward? That seem ridiculous as a game mechanic. I mean we all have real life and if I need to dap off to do laundry or the wife or kid needs something, none of us can say to our real life "Yo, do one... This silly video game has priority"... That's just a family hating mechanic by design... The fact that I can't pause in SOLO is horrendous enough... If the fines are there for that then I 100% want a refund as this Devs has lost the plot... This is only a video game, not a life choice fantasy world...

But your point is, it may very well be, but I've failed more than the amount of missions I got fined for... I failed roughly 8 missions after my game CTD...

Also another point... If these fines apply because of failure, what if our games CTD... What if the server goes down, all of these things are out of our hands and the ED team is treating us like criminals for their faults!?

Unacceptable!

The fines look like failed missions, also there is a way to discard a cloned profile, an option in the consumable menu on the bottom looks like an x

"Cloned profile"?

Like multiple cloned profiles on your save? Meh... I'm not into worrying about a perma ban... I just wanna fly around in space fighters and shoot pirates, and maybe land and shoot them with my space pistol...

When did gaming become a chore? or a job?

Seems like a ridiculous idea... Taking the fun out of gaming...

Getting those fines felt like getting a parking ticket... So now what... We don't take missions unless we have trillions in our fake space bank?

Yeah... If this is "by design"... Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa... REFUND for the old bait and switch, please...

So glad I've been waiting for this to be good since 2014... (n)(n)

I need more alcohol...

.... You didn't play Alpha or the tutorial did you?

One of the tools you have is the profile analyzer, if you scan people with it, it acts like a ground based kill-warrant scanner. The alternate option is to clone someone's security credentials so you can access higher clearance areas and switches. The guards will attack you if they scan you with a stolen profile, so they added an option to discard the stolen identity.

Ah right... I did play the tutorial... I must have missed the Guards scan stuff... But honestly even on legal missions I avoid them as the scanning seemed bugged... But this is on a legal mission with nothing stolen and no ID's cloned... Like I couldnt be any more legal...

I noticed a bunch of fines yesterday too, and I figured it must be failed missions as well. The thing is though, I don't remember seeing it on the mission details. Have to pay a bit more attention to that.

If it is due to mission failure... Fine, but they need to lower the rate waaaaaaay down to like maybe 1000 credits or 1-10% of the payout... I failed due to a CTD and then before it was because of the servers...

And what if life happens... We get so penalized I have zero interest in playing a video game that stings as hard and frustratingly as real life... It's not fun... Games are suppose to be fun, not a bloody chore right?

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills here... (Zoolander)

Agree. It's steep, comparing to the payout. I think I got my last one after I was killed. The mission failed because I screwed up killing the scavvies during power-up. So now, I try to power-up first, then kill scavvies... but then when I tried it, the site was repopulated, with both scavvies AND regular employees, and I didn't dare challenge the "bounty" system by killing someone and get the anti-personnel skimmers hunting me as well. I'm not sure if there should be a penalty at all, but if there is one, it probably shouldn't be twice the payout of the mission.

Especially annoying right now, since the connection issues is pushing the deadline/timeout, so automatic failure and fine. :(

So... today, started with no fines. Did one mission, didn't fail it, granted it was an illegal item and I was discovered, but ended up with one 50k fine + 100k fine. :/ Mission paid 59k. Hurts. Oh, well, better not be discovered, right?

For myself, it's simply an unfun video game now...

Why would I bother with a mission if the end result is huge fines and tens of hours grinding to pay off said fines. Lets say we have to go out with our family midway through a mission and have to turn off our PC. So because we rather spend time with real people that matter we get smashed with fines in a video game?

For me this is not fun. This is just a video game, and the devs really need to give their heads a wobble because having a game where your suppose to play missions, but now have anxiety about playing missions because if you fail you now have to invest tens of hours paying off made up fines, sounds like the worst idea ever if you tried to pitch it to your "fans" (investors)...

I just can't get on board with a game that penalizes you for playing it in a way the Devs don't like... Just abhorrent game design...

But I appreciate your input... and manners on an internet forum... People usually freakout and over react like children when you insult something they like on the internet... Loyalty to products and brand names has always been very weird to me... So thank you for being cool!

I had to leave my computer for a bit and all my missions I had stacked up expired. I now owe more than I have credits. 100k fine for every failed mission.

Pro tip: Only take on one mission at a time and make sure you complete it. So one missions. Go there (time). Finish it. Go back (time). Cash in. Take new mission... :/

Pro tip 2: don't take salvage missions since some of them are bugged and you can't get to the panel underground. You fail it whatever you do, so it'll only cost you.

The thing though is that this wasn't happening a couple of days ago. This must've been part of last patch. Hate this change. Stupid.

I don't like it one bit either. Actually, now I'm going to go back to Horizons missions to make money so I can pay the fines. Stupid design.
