Bugged ground CZ's

I know this is a pretty well known bug but...

I've just been to four different systems with four different high CZ's and every one is bugged. The bug where you have no "score" at the top of the screen, you can't see the capture points and they don't give a countdown. And when/if you die, the Rescue Rangers swoop in.

Have I just been unlucky or is this suddenly more prevalent?

(And I've just had to close the game down via Task Manager),

Think I'll play something else for a while...

It may be that the war has ended up the settlement has not updated. I have found, usually shortly after a tick, that there can be problems if the war has ended. One give away is that instead of both sides being identified with the usual icons on the radar, one side appears as grey dots.

Aaah! Yes, there were grey dots.

FWIW, I made enough high cz to go from warrior to elite the last few weeks. I did encounter 3-4 which were buggy, and on a couple of occasions I had a black screen when leaving the drop ship. But the vast majority of them worked with no issues at all..

Just not having a good time with high CZ's. The last one was of the "can't find the last enemy" variety. Ran around for ages - nada, even at the settlement periphery.

Sad panda.

Yeah, that's a very nasty bug. It pretty much ruined the Combat CG from 2 weeks ago (the war in Pichch).

This bug seems to happen mostly in Open Play and Private Group (but maybe not in Solo Play).

Maybe it's something related to a high number of Cmdrs being in the same System and breaking the "matchmaker" server. Or maybe it's related to some specific settlements. I dunno...

---
We went with a bunch of friends to try the main High CZ during the first day of the CG. Most of our rounds were badly broken and we all gave up after a good dozen of attempts.

We couldn't pledge for any faction after landing on the CZ with our own ships, and/or the scores ended up frozen.

Honestly, Ground CZ in Open Play never really worked, and it's been like that since OD's release. It's kind of baffling, personally I gave up hoping for FDev to ever fix them. (n)

According to OP, they went "to four different systems", so I doubt it's a BGS update "latency".

I play in a private group nearly all the time.
Indeed, Private Group is also impacted by this bug (I edited my first post), just like Open Play. Only Solo Play seems immune.

It makes sense because both Open Play and Private Group enable a layer of networking specific to multiplayer. Same thing with the "Scores Frozen" bug.

Interesting! I'll go solo for a while and see how that pans out - cheers!

I had this happen once after 15 dropped, and I thought it was actually an upgrade to the ground CZ gameplay. I like ground CZ's a lot, but there's so much info provided and there are so much ammo and meds provided, that I thought, as I was in a high level ground CZ, that those things were removed per level. I wonder if FDev could implement that.

This bug also happens in solo mode - it isn't mode-related.

It is related to the tick - BGS calculations (such as a war outcome and influence) propagate before states do, so the system can - and will - still spawn conflict zones even though the faction news says X faction beat Y faction and took control of Z asset.

These CZs will, regardless of mode, not display control point indicators or friendly troops. If you've annoyed the opposing faction enough by participating against them in a conflict for sustained period, you will probably be at hostile reputation with them, so your scanner will show them as enemies.

It doesn't help that the tick at the moment is from about 20:30 to 21:30 - right when most people are likely to be playing.

Thanks for that info.

I suppose I've just been lucky in that all the CZ's I've done in solo seem to be bug free.

Almost.

I did have one where the last enemy disappeared so the CZ could not be won.

You're welcome.

It's a timing thing, I think - the tick tends to wander, but out of 24 hours, you're more likely to be not playing (we all have to work and sleep, unfortunately) than playing.

The bug usually resolves itself once the states have ticked and you quit to desktop. Next time you play, the CZs will have disappeared.

As for the final enemy not showing, I think it's related to the character models rendering embedded in the floor/wall/chair, which has never really been fixed. If one of the initial baddie NPCs spawns inside a mesh, you'll never be able to kill them.
