Buggy downwards thrusters?

I believe they already exist. They're mounted in the wheels. From what I understand though, instead of attempting at make your "effective gravity" 1g, they just multiply your effective gravity by 10.

Yes, wheel thrusters.

On high G worlds, they rotate to point DOWN. On low G worlds, they rotate to point UP... to push you down, like you said, OP.

I'm assuming there will be upgrades and better buggies in the future, the down thrust is not even noticeable atm.

I still hope Frontier will let us have complete control over the wheel thrusters one day. Or at least let us turn them off.

Oh, I think you would notice if they were not there at all. While they are not fantastic at sticking you to the ground on low G worlds, the physics of their contribution (and I am thinking Luna and lower G levels) are keeping you from hitting a rock and not coming down for days :p The relative gravity difference is easy to spot when shooting meteorites and out crops. Just watch those rocks float for what feels like forever without wheel thrusters on them ;)

Thrust up for a bit on a 0.1G world and then say that again. Without downward thrust you'd be in the air for minutes, literally minutes. :)

Yes, the issue is that there isn't the option to boost down, like there is up. If I could plant myself into the ground for a sharp turn on a low g world the way I can lift myself up going over a bump on a high g world there wouldn't be an issue. The problem is that you can't thrust down, it's just "there".

Ah, now I get you. Please accept my apologies.

Em, I can see why you'd want it but I'm not convinced personally. If you were to implement it the obvious way seems to be to tie it to the directional thrusters used in space-flight. The downside is that they'd have to re-model the SRV thrusters so they can fire both ways or do some handwavium on the animation since at the moment they are visually and mechanically designed to be thrusting downards (larger opening at the top with smaller nozzle at bottom).

Accepted, I think this is the bog standard buggy, maybe better ones will have better thrusters and driving assists I would imagine.

That'd be awesome, have a dedicated vehicle for speed and handling (possibly no cargo space) which has more thruster control options, possibly allowing us to manually adjust the wheel thruster power as well as downwards/sideways thrust! That'd be great for racing around in! :)

Racing is a good idea plus there are all sorts of buggies they could put in the game, from tanks to that weird looking 3 wheeled thing. :)
