Build a zoo with all species?

Hey guys,

Has anyone out there built a zoo with all species in it? I’m looking at all the animals and regions and I don’t know if it’s possible!

I haven't even had all species in seperate zoos yet 😅 It's emberrassing how many base game animals I didn't touch yet.
Not too sure of having all animals in one zoo is possible. If there is a PC that can handle that, I mean. Space wise... I don't know. Maybe with welfare of, because the Polar bear and some others might just take up too much space, to have them all.

Pretty sure space won't be an issue at all when you try that, with or without welfare. Like you said, though, no PC out there will be able to handle that, at least not when you intend to actually play it, too. Well, maybe a NASA computer can but I'm almost 100% certain none of us has one of those lying around at home 🤪

Someone from the facebook group I'm part of did show pictures of a zoo with all the species - this was before the Australian DLC. Not sure if it was sandbox , franchise or what, but they indicated it took up about half the map. Also no idea how well their computer was running it. I think spacewise it's possible that there would be room for around 110-130 habitats, but I doubt there's any computer out there they could actually run that. The biggest zoo I've had was 40 habitats and around 8 or 10 exhibits. And it does lag quite a bit, and there's so much to manage (and it's losing money now), so I'm probably done expanding on it.

Oh right, I didn’t even think about computer performance! I guess that takes away the pressure to create an all-inclusive zoo.

I keep playing with the same species too, since I always start my African section first. The only species I’ve actually had in game are lions, zebra, wildebeest, giraffe and wild dogs. Knowing that I can’t really have everything in one zoo is kind of refreshing - now I can just play with different species and change it up when I want to!

My first zoo managed to have all animals in it from the base game and the Arctic Pack. I had space reserved for Australia and SA, but have not added to that zoo as the frame rate is horrible. I have limited the guest to 3500 (and accepted that the zoo will be in the negative by roughly 70-150k a year) hoping it would make a difference and allow for some semblance of play, but it caps out at 6-8 FPS when playing and about 16 when building.

While I am still quite disappointed by that fact, I have accepted that building a large, realistic zoo is essentially impossible and will be moving forward. Would love to be able to have all animals in one zoo, but I will settle for the smaller, functioning zoos.

It should be absolutely possible to use all species and even the whole map...and within the animal requirements. You have around 1 mio m² more than enough, even for polar bears.
Just keep the amount of "decoration", shops, support buildings and the amount of animals per species around the minimum.

One of Discord members built a zoo (approx. 60-70% of the map) with all animals including SA pack (excluding polar bears) and ended up with 5 FPS, guest limit 5,000.
Btw the limiting factor is not the PC (if you're close or above the recommended specs), it's the poor engine, which cannot handle the needed computations.

I'm working on it very slowly, but no where near complete! I focus too much on little details haha. So far I have about 30 species in it.

Its currently not possible to fill out the whole map without lagging. I think I managed to make it almost half way before I ended up with 20 FPs and I got a beast PC. This was with over 200 animals and 3000 guests. I also haven't read of anyone being able to do so, so there's that.

I tried to close my zoo and got rid of the 3000 guests, gave me about 10 FPS more, so instead of 20 I am now sitting at 30, lol.

Good point, I would say, given a computer that runs well, the game engine is probably best at no more than 30 habitats. I actually want to try this out in Sandbox with everything off or set so I don't have to worry about welfare and money and can have a low number of guests, just to see how the game runs. Maybe one day, it's on my list of things to do eventually.

You could try that in advance by downloading some sandbox zoos from other players. Thus, you could see how well the performance is and if you still like it.
This one is a very good one imo: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2063979876

I would suggest enable Stream's FPS counter if you are going to try the suggestions. Gives you something to write down instead of going with a "I think this feels sluggish, but I am not sure"
Yeah, thanks. But I am not a strong believer in FPS counters. I can see when a game is getting laggy. And believe me - after over 1,000 hours in this game I have already tried a lot and talked to many people regarding the issues.

Whatever works for you of course. I wasn't sure, I believed it felt rather sluggish when moving the cam in my game, but everything else seems to be smooth, so I enabled the counter, pop! 20 FPS xD I then started a new Zoo and felt the difference immediately, so much smoother.
