Too many shops selling too many things you can get online for cheaper, and to your door. I liked Maplin, but I think it missed a trick with not looking to become a learning place with workshops etc ie be something you can't get online.

That may be because you can get most of the hobbyist parts by the bucket for cheaper from China with free shipping (say, a 10-pack of pigtails with JST balancer connectors for under 2 USD), not helped by the Maplin closing sale apparently still offering many items well above what the (former) competition were asking. Failure of going with the times: shape up or be found floating down the Thames.

I told them the exact same thing years ago . You got sneers from the staff. Have u noticed how scan dabs prices have shot up. In UK we get screwed on prices for everything.

So buy buy to Toys R us or as the are now known as Toys 'were' US

So is this online Amazon tax happening? We really should start to manufacture stuff in Uk at least have a go with 3d printing etc. We need something to export.
