Ship Builds & Load Outs Building a ship for exploration/combat

Hello everyone, sorta rookie commader here, writing to ask for some tips on building a nice ship for exploration and maybe combat.
I'd like to build up a ship for going in uncharted places and explore, but also maybe viable for fighting?
Like, rather than mix stuff on a simple ship, I more wanted to make something like the great fox from starfox: Have a main ship for exploration
with small fighters to launch in case of combat. So, dunno, I may be minding my own business travelling, a pirate comes being a pain, jump into a fighter
to take him down and then continue on my exploration.

Anybody has any good builds or something? Can a fighter bay be installed on a medium sized ship, so I'd be able to still dock anywhere or something?
Money ain't a problem as right now I'm getting rich by mining :v

For those specs and medium ship your only(?) bet would be Krait Mk II really. If you can go for large ships, then any of the big three can be viable for combat and travel at the same time. For long distance ships anaconda is the best as you can keep a decent 60+ LY jump distance while staying pve combat ready. For the other of the big three you can stay between 30-40+ LY jump while being pve combat ready.

Here is a fast build for Krait Mk II that maybe OK.

Doesn't work. Unless you're ok with a 17-25 jump on a Vette, Annie or Cutter. But then they are no longer exploration ships. You really need to pick one or build 2 separate ships. An exploration ship outfitted enough to survive combat against NPC (and PVP is just a huge absolute no dice) isn't going to be an exploration ship, as it's going to be hindered by poor jump range for starters. To keep decent jump, you have to sacrifice weight which weakens the ship both hull and shield wise. SCB's and boosters are heavy. Hull reinforcements are heavy. Weapons are heavy. You need A rated modules for combat which are heavier than D which is great for exploration builds. If you're exploring you typically want to take a fuel scoop, SRV, a scanner, AFMS, and a guardian booster. Those are slots that would normally be filled with things such as hull reins, scb's or module reinforcement on a combat build. The sacrifice towards either side is too great. You'll just end up with a that does both poorly.

I see. Mh, too bad, would've liked a sort of mix of both worlds, but I guess its not much viable atm.
Well, if I'm gonna go for exploration I would be skipping combat, the inverse for fighting.
Guess as Anubis said, I'll have to get two differents ships for what I wanna do.
Thanks for the replies, if anyone wanna maybe suggest a good fighting build and an exploration one,
I'd appreciate it, if not, guess this topic can be closed.

If money is no problem, then you can do both. Most of us do. I have 17 ships, one for every single job I may want to do. Some days I pirate, some days I bounty hunt, some days I mine, some days I trade, then I may go exploring for a few days or a week. Build a fleet to do what you want to do.

For exploration, I'd start out with the DBX(Diamondback Explorer). It's cheap, even A rating it is cheap, and engineered it has the 2nd best jump range in the game second only to the Anaconda. Excellent cockpit view, low heat output, just a great little ship. Some prefer the AspX as you can carry an AFMS with you and the larger scoop is nice. I couldn't handle the farting noise it makes. It's the worst sounding ship in the game in my opinion, but that's just me. Also, you may find that exploration is boring, so I'd try the DBX first. Great ship either way as I still have mine. Although I don't use it as often, it's a fantastic bubble taxi with its 70ly jump.

For combat, I'd start with a Viper III (Not a IV - it sucks). You want to start out in something cheap because you're going to be terrible at combat in the beginning. Play with loadouts weapon wise. Fixed vs gimbaled (fixed will obviously require far more practice but offer higher DPS). For build ideas, you can search this site or google and find all sorts of suggestions or builds. The Viper is a fun ship.
