Building Blocks

One thing I would like stamped out ASAP before even more are made are the same multiple duplicated building pieces that only have a texture or colour variant applied.

Please remove the duplicated block shapes and add a texture selector in addition to the existing the colour swatch selector!

This can't be done soon enough with all the extravagant parks being built with these duplicated objects.
Getting rid of these at a later date in favour for a single set with texture customisation may be difficult when ensuring you can, if it all, convert the data in everyone's parks to a replacement set.

*Update
  • Basic 3D Editing of preset placement shapes (Square (cube), Triangle, Pyramid, Circle (Cylinder) with adjustable face count).
  • Allow scaling of the Height, Width and Depth of the Shapes.
  • Separate grid system for scale where the default smallest size is half the thickness of the current wall shapes so we can make ledges and borders.
  • Allow a mode where the build block objects can be placed in the same manner as props with the surface alignment toggle available.
  • Allow the creation of Prefabs to help with the creation of our blueprints so we can create prefabricated collection of shapes and attached props to be used as a grouped placement object with control of what object in the group is used as the snapping point to the building grid.
  • Use world alignment for textures.
  • Allow Colour Pallet (Per Face) [Per Face selection would allow interior and exterior walling on the same object allowing for more detail and retain low poly count]
  • A set of detail textures to use with colour Pallet
  • Texture selection (Per Face + If possible colourisation overlay texture for altering things such as the brick work without colouring the cement)

We would be able to make large single walls out of fewer polys rather than place lots of squares, This control would keep poly counts down, Number of object shadow instances down and surface rendering of post effects down by allowing us to create the same buildings out of fewer pieces.

I also want to regurgitate the obvious suggestions probably already asked for below:

  • Manual Scaling (Building Blocks & Foliage)
  • Flip Selection (Props Only)
  • Object Prop Inversion (for symmetry building when using props)
  • Random Scaling (Foliage)
  • Random Rotation (Foliage)
  • Coaster track height measurements.

Great ideas!

I definitly would like to see simply shapes added for both building and terrain, and also the ability to make a wall by clicking and dragging to make a series or wall pieces all within a single click.

Really like all of the suggestions put into that first post.

Something I noticed that I would like to see in the building section is a wider variety of smaller pieces.
Walls that are half the size length-wise would be nice and just smaller pieces in general.

I tried making small village houses but that wasn't easy when I realised there are very few pieces I could use to make it all work.

We may as well have a partial 3D editor, I don't think we need more pieces of the same shape but instead have one set of un-textured / un-coloured and then allow us to drag out the shapes to change their width, depth and height to what we want that snaps to the grid.

I will alter first post to reflect this with details of what I would like to see. I think in this day and age that everyone has the ability to do some very basic block modelling and giving that level of control would be gold. Rather than have what is essentially Lego Bricks at the moment, I want Advanced Lego bricks that i can change the scale and depth of.

I really like all this ideas.

But the use of the same pieces, and change only the texture, is it something strange. You have in mind, some like a library of textures? with the possibility of colouring these pieces. No is bad idea.
In other threads, I comment, about the use of all snap and grid references pieces. (Restrictive freedom) yes, this sound something bad... but is the same principle for Lego(r) and Tente(r) or other similar systems construction. Because, the current method, is boring and tired to death, perhaps not for everyone, there are real creative minds. But, I played 20min building something house, etc..., and need rest. Yes, no is a game for casual gamers. (Not for the moment)
And yes... you can use prefabricates or blueprints for other players, but no is me style. I like make me own buildings and sceneries, very detailed! customized! But, really, the creative artist from Planet coaster, need make better this area of the game. (but is only me personal appreciation) I do not understand why some pieces fit together. And others do not. You can rotate 360º and place them on the walls, and others not. It's very chaotic. I think not all players have the same advantages. You have time and creativity, you can make your perfect park...but in the other side...

For example, are you tried put a lamp at the same height on different walls?, or the same wall... no, please, dont ask press F button :) This is a very limited option, and ever put the object at the same position. No, the problem here, is when you need add some objects, with the only help of your eyes, hand pulse, patient and hours, and hours of your life. Why this objects don't work with a snap option?

I do not want to be rude! :D I really appreciate the wonderful work behind this game.

For me, some new ideas (feedback).

-Add 1x1m wall, 1.5x1.5m vertical and horizontal. For example, 1x4m or 0.5x4m (is possible something of this really existed on game?)
-The delete option, for round corners near of wall on buildings. For example, a square little kiosk surround for paths.
-Add some snap options for all elements, not a hard and restricted snap, only a little help. And the angle tools, for this elements. Some mix, between all freedom but with help tools.
- Some tools for make walls, on terrains and paths. Similar to spline creation. You only need choose your wall, and drawing with the spline brush.
-Multi-selection on all elements (yes, pressing ctrl). And the possibility of create groups (selection groups) Where you can save this groups, merged, open or deleted. The blueprints no are the best solution for the game, only for share content.
-Resize elements, if not sure about a scale tool?, Can be somewhat chaotic?
- Some blueprints or guide tools for make custom images for add into the game. Or textures on the walls! Something similar to Photoshop o Gimp templates :D
- And the terrain, need a lot of improved. Yes, is hard create a terrain mesh which can be follow the route of your path. In rct3 this are simple, because the path was a 2d texture over the grid, with the same size :p

And here ended, sorry me perfect english. :p

Thanks! regards.
