Building Habitats out of walls

Not sure if there s another way to do this but I went and tried to build cages for animals with the walls and such building materials and couldn't do it. Or rather i had to build the concrete walls then build a fence inside the wall to get it to work and then it just wasn't worth it because of the amount of cages i needed

What exactly was the problem? Were you putting down null barriers and a keeper gate along with your building pieces? Otherwise it won't count as a habitat and you can't place animals inside. Or was the issue with animals escaping through the building pieces?

Sorry - not sure I understand. What do you mean by ‘the amount of cages’? You should be able to define to habitat with null barriers (or another barrier) and then use build pieces to actually keep them in the space if you don’t like how the standard barriers look.

I don't know what null barrier means but when you use concrete walls and floors to make an enclosure there's no gate or door that you can attach to the wall to make it a habitat. So the only thing I found that worked was to build the walls and floor, then to build the fence literally inside the walls and leave a gap for the gate. But then the staff cant get into the building because paths don't go into buildings with a floor base. And that's per habitat and building you make. So f you have say 25 animal species and you build 2 enclosures per the 25 that's a stupid amount of stuff around when the building should work like the fences where you build then just select and name what it is

Habitats have to be made with barriers with a habitat gate - that’s what defines them in the game as a habitat. You can, however, use the null (- has a sort of blue glow in the menu but is invisible once placed) you can then use build pieces to keep the animals in - you ALWAYS need a habitat gate though and an area surrounded by barriers. Outside of habitats staff will follow paths even through walls etc. and paths can be placed under floors if you want.
I’m still not really sure what you’re trying to do - I don’t know what you mean when you say that paths don’t go into buildings with a floor base, for example.
I’d recommend looking online for some basic tutorials, or just looking at the buildings and habitats in the scenarios to see how they work and run through the scenarios if you haven’t as they form a kind’ve tutorial.
