Bulkheads/Hull Reinforcements Visuals

Aloha everyone,

Since I couldn't find any Topic alike, I'd like to start one regarding the visibility of Amour Upgrades/Bulkheads/HR-Packages. In my humble Opinion it would be a great addition to Customisation and Imersion to actually "see" Changes to the Hull of your Ship, imagine a Conda or a clipper with heavy alloys or plates of reinforced Amour. Wouldn't it be nice and gice us more to actually identify with "our" Ladies? :p I'm goin to sketch a bit and post the results here and on DeviantArt in the future. Pls, let me hear your thoughts about it.

HRP are within inside the ship, like all of internal modules, right?

Same if one could ask why we dont see cargo racks on surface of ships.

Armoring visuals (military, reinforced, etc) - yes please. HRPs though are internal components so they're sort of pointless to have any visuals to be seen from outside.

My guess HRP "looks" like something similar as a safe cage on racer cars, but more dense with layers. It makes ships less empty inside as internal modules are just empty space to install with something. But, if that would be "realistic", HRP would not give more overall hull points, instead maked some areas on ship more durable to damage. But Elite as game aint is and cant be too realistic in many areas, so HRP just are mass and bonus hull points, with very litte DR instead.

I've never understood this, how does having an internal compartment loaded with HRPs increase your overall hull strength

Think of it this way:
You have a fixed armor on your ship which is reflected in the game as "hardness" and base damage resistance.
You have the ship hull below the armor with bulkheads to reinforce it, reflected as "integrity".
Now you can sacrifice internal space by reinforcing corridors, struts, add a secondary "skeleton" to the ship and
build in multiple airtight doors closing when areas are damaged to prevent decompression
and the resulting implosions ripping the ship apart.

Your ship won't look more healthy than before, sustaining the same damage with or without reinforcements,
but it will be overall intact.

More like a honeycomb like structure that is glued to the opposite sides of the space inside the ship. Higher the rating, the more elastic, tougher material used in the honeycomb. While your ship can have a tough armor, you have a lot of empty space in your ship which can allow your armor to split like cheese unless sacrificing your spaces with HRP to keep the ship together.

That makes sense

HRPs are internal structures. You would not see any external difference in real life.
Now, when ramming a ship full of HRPs vs a ship without, it could make "BONG!" instead of "DONG!" :p

Or just a flat "thud" (rammer) and "ker-pow" (the rammed), if rammer is HRPd; "thud" (the rammed) and "ker-pow" (the rammer) otherwise.

Have they got any go-faster stripes? That would be cool. But visual differences for the armour types would be very cool I reckon. I imagine the military type to be thick and dull, and the reflective to be - well - reflective.

yea i was thinking the same, like the crossbraces you can already see outboards of the conda, just belowdecks. also love the idea of reinforced corridors or airtight doors:eek: how awesome. guess we'll see once ship interiors are announced.
