Bulletin Board Layout

Instead of a disorganized hodgepodge of missions, why not have them grouped into categories - Cargo, Combat, Mining, with an indication of how many are in each:

Cargo: 5 missions
Combat: 7 missions
Mining: 2 missions
Exploration: 0 missions

Typically people checking the board have an idea of what kind of job they want to find, and if they're only interested in what pays then they'll go through each category anyway.

The reason I suggest something like this is because I think it would allow you to create more types of missions that wouldn't end up making the BB list longer and even more cluttered.

For example:

Long range cargo run: Ferrying a load of X to the nearest planet isn't exactly challenging, but what if the station in the Alliance worked out a deal with the Empire for a load of something special to be delivered - forcing the pilot to travel a hundred or so light years to complete the mission (through possibly hostile waters).

Exploration: this has been asked for for a while - missions to fully map out specific systems and return, something for explorers to do.

Escort missions: have to safely see an NPC cargo ship to its destination (NPC wing situation?).

etc... The point is, by having subcategories you could include more missions and allow yourself more variety of missions without clogging the BB screen

This is all good. :)

They should also move missions related to minor factions to Contacts too, in adition to Powers and the proposed naval contact move.

By doing this, you can even expand the minor faction contacts page by giving further information on the faction, the government type, their current attitude towards you, any relevant Galnet news items, and a list of available missions from them. Plus a proper human face to them. Same with military contacts and even the same with the Powers contacts.

What of the bulletin board? I think it can be reserved for private missions, either from individuals not aligned to a faction, civilians such as passenger transport (when it comes), or from the existing station commander missions (although their missions could be moved to the starion security Contacts submenu).

Finally, to make it all easy to navigate, there should be a full mission directory showing all available missions, sortable by faction, time remaining, reward, penalty, destination, mission type, minimum rank requirements, cargo space needed, and special flags.

Finally finally, just as in the new Galnet, there needs to be greater integration of the galaxy and system maps with missions, but better. Click on a destination in the mission briefing and it will show it on the map, automatically lock onto it, outline any restrictions, fuel requirements, and the most optimal jump route.

Good ideas OP.

"Exploration: this has been asked for for a while - missions to fully map out specific systems and return, something for explorers to do"
+1 for that.

I think it can afford to be more specific. Sortie, Assassination, Hauling, Courier, etc.

Actually... why would an assassination mission like that be so out in the open?

What if it were organized by minor faction?
