Bunch of questions from a newbie

Hi folks, installed 4 days ago, hanging around with my cobra mostly for bounty hunting i found a lot of informations in this forum, still some of them are missing, i know some things (like factions) are still unveiled, but maybe someone can have ideas about.

- trying to push up my reputation with empire, should I avoid to shoot empire pirate ships? blasted some of them, in the faction status nothing seems to happen, no red arrows telling me i'm doing wrong. I am doing wrong? If i'm, is it worth it? If ten empire ships down results in no red arrow, i can invest that money in a green arrow in someway.

- Started in a full-of-feds system and bounty hunting in extraction sites there, the only interaction with Feds i had till now was shooting at their security ships without willing it (and paying stupidly low fees) no quests whatsoever. Suddenly yesterday i went mad about this, and i started shooting at the security untill one of them goes down, payed the fee in an outpost soon after and suddenly my relationships with Feds became "Friendly" . lolwut? Also, no changes from Empire side. Shouldn't be the opposite?
Also, having a high bounty with a faction helps the relationships with opposite factions?

-Recently i reached "Sorbago" with Capital ship events avaible. Went inside of them, the capital ship appears and nothing more happens, no war no shooting, just a showcase of how much big is that ship. Looking around in YT looks like things should be different with a war involved..

-Playing with a friend, trying to reach a USS with the Anaconda assassination mission inside, i go in, but no wakes outside avaible for my friend. No problems playing together with wakes till then, is that kind of mission impossible to do in co-op? I took it down either way just because was harmless. But this is annoying, cause like this we can't farm this kind of missions safely.

- I'm aware that CMDR population moves, around Sorbago right now there's a fairly low player population, so i'm wondering where are the systems with more CMDRs right now?

Thanks all for the answers!

I believe you are referring here to a bug that has now been fixed. It SHOULD be fine to shoot down wanted ships even if they are from the faction you are associated with.

- Started in a full-of-feds system and bounty hunting in extraction sites there, the only interaction with Feds i had till now was shooting at their security ships without willing it (and paying stupidly low fees) no quests whatsoever. I think you now get reputation from handling in bounties so that is probably the reason of your "friendly" status and not the shooting down of an authority ship (which will decrease your reputation with them). Note that sometimes it takes a while for the reputation to change after you make the action so it is possible that you go friendly and only see it 15 minutes later or so.

-Recently i reached "Sorbago" with Capital ship events avaible. Went inside of them, the capital ship appears and nothing more happens, no war no shooting, just a showcase of how much big is that ship. Looking around in YT looks like things should be different with a war involved..

Haven't been to Sorbago but I think the rebellion is failed and finished? In any case, look for "conflict zones" in the map and you should find what you're looking for.

-Playing with a friend, trying to reach a USS with the Anaconda assassination mission inside, i go in, but no wakes outside avaible for my friend. Haven't done this myself but seen videos of other people doing it so definitely possible. Search for "cover ops anaconda" and you'll probably find it. You sure you and your friend were on the same instance before you dropped in the USS?

Just keep watching the news and the traffic reports at stations. I saw around 800 ships in the traffic reports around Panem (onion head story) a few days ago...

Hello Inverno,

Bounty Hunting can seriously effect your rep in a negative way (I just posted in the Accidental Friendly fire thread), so be careful out there!

Some people advise bounty hunting in the Independent or Anarchy systems - this is probably good advise, I mean never murder on your own door step lol. However it does make cashing in your Bounties difficult without a Warrant scanner (which would pick up additional Empire bounty).

I do hasten to add at this time, my rep with the Feds - the area I am in - is unfriendly and almost probably heading further south. So on one hand you can take this advise from someone who had to learn it the hard way, or on the other hand - I clearly have no idea what I am talking about :)

I would try out some of the "do not" below - to experience it for yourself.

Where ever you Bounty Hunt look a the factions, if possible get the info up in the system map, and use your right hand panel to look at influence and allegiance.

You want to avoid, in fact I would run away as a general rule from Wanted people that are part of the controlling faction - you do not want to be unpopular with the police as a Bounty Hunter. However sometimes the size of the Bounty verses the effort to kill is very tempting.

You want to avoid killing Wanted with allegiance to the empire in your case.

Try and focus on the "criminal" (Anarchy government) or "terrorist" organisations (tend to be Dictatorship with low influence) in the systems you Bounty Hunt in.

Hope this helps.

Simon
