Burst lasers

Does anyone here use them? What are they for? What do they do that beam or pulse won't do? Thanks in advance.

I put a pair of Large Short Range Inertial Impact Burst Lasers on my Vulture. Great damage against both shield and armor. You just need to stay close to the target. Beats bothering with ammunition. Oh, and watch your heat.

From my understanding, burst lasers are a compromise between beams and pulse lasers. More damage and distro than pulse lasers, but not as much as beams.

That being said, if I can't use beams, I don't bother . The ony burst laser I use are the Cytoscramblers.

I do. They have the highest DpE of the las weapons; which matters if you have a ship with a somewhat undersized distributor.
They're not the meta choice for the meta ships, but they definitely have their uses. They also feel more fun using than the slow not really automatic of the puls lasers or the water hose of the beam lasers.

Helmut is correct. Beam is best damage but they can cause heat issues in some ships and drain the weapons capacitor very quickly. If you have power issue or are not engineered then burst is next best option.
