Perhaps adding a system of player controlled companies and variations of the like. For example, a trading company where the player can own a fleet of AI piloted ships to trade player specified goods from one station to another including trade options such as scan shielded hold upgrades for less reputable transactions. The ships travel similarly to ship transfer system unless the player decides to accompany the shipment in order to protect their investment. Also can hire AI or players to protect the shipment.
A mercenary or private military company where players can own ships and accept contracts for bounty hunting or engaging in conflict zones.
Each company has its own fleet interface where the player can buy and outfit ships for their respective enterprises, and another for hiring AI or player pilots to fill their ranks
