Buttkicker

Apologies if this is in the wrong place - I figured the most likely users of this are going to be the VR folk. Can anyone who owns it tell me what settings they have their Gamer 2 set to? What cutoff frequency, specifically. Do you use any other software to enhance it? I know Simvibe doesn't support ED, but is ther anything else out there?

Thanks!

I'm using an aura pro, but same idea. I just have it hooked into an RCA 50hz low pass filter and it works really well, just vibrates when the ship realistically would. As for software, the existing sound design in ED is so effective with a bass shaker I haven't felt compelled to look for anything else.

best of luck.

I have my onboard audio set to 5.1 (analogue), BK plugged into the sub out and stereo headphones plugged into the normal stereo out port. I then untick the 2 rear and center speakers in the realtek control panel which forces those channels to be outputted to the font L/R speakers. Essentially 2.1 stereo mode.

I have the high frequency cutoff enabled but the dial all the way to the left. I set the buttkicker intensity to 12 when I power it on.

I find these settings pick up all of the station lift thuds and motion, the 'clunk' when landing on a pad, hardpoint deployment and firing, frameshift drive charging, glide mode rumbling, boosting and general engine rumbles as you accelerate / decelerate.

I also made an app so you can fine tune certain aspects and build profiles for different ships. It only works with audio devices which show the sub channel in Windows Speaker Properties, under 'Levels'.

You seem like the right person to ask this... Just got my rift - I am trying to get Voice Attack and the output of VLC Media Player (for music and Sidewinder radio) to output to the HMD headphones with game audio and the game audio to output to my Buttkicker. I have enabled dual audio in OH. I am using on board sound card with Realtek drivers. In windows I can only choose one output. So I am stuck with sending windows sounds to either speaker or Rift. How can I get my VoiceAttack, Windows music source and Buttkicker all going at once? I hate to give up either

You'll need to set your Windows default audio device to be your Realtek speakers and then mirror the audio to the Rift using a third party app such as Voice Meter Banana. Don't forget to disable the audio mirroring in Oculus Home and ensure you have the Realtek device set as the default audio there too.

The Oculus Home audio mirroring is pretty bad, it only mirrors audio from apps launched directly by Oculus Home to your mirrored audio device. So VLC etc would not send the audio to your Rift unless you have the Rift set as the Wndows default audio device, which as you state: causes the problem of then not being able to use your Buttkicker etc.
