Ships Buyer's remorse thread

Type 6, only because that was my 1st real transport ship, and I hated it so much, sold it for a loss an hour after I bought it. Rebought it a week later after realizing credits earnings required trading.
By the time I got to the t-7, I knew what to expect.

FDL, lost 2 of them back to back and it cost me over 60mil. I didn't realize compared to the Vulture that it handled like a piece of garbage and couldn't even out turn an Anaconda with one.

I did the same thing yesterday with a type 9. I had one way back in Beta and was nice to get a refresher of how much I hate trading haha... back to the clipper for me, or my vulture for RES.

Type-9 worst ship ever! no FSD range and a pig to fly at low speeds, its quicker to trade with a python than type 9. Type-9 is only usful for short range hops so you only get low credit return on the trade run, only found a use for it during community goals that require delivering lots of stuff to one place.

Anaconda.
Marvellous ship ... as long you don't need to land it.
One day, if I can configure it with a small secondary ship I will buy one again, but not before.

On paper, the Clipper doesn't such much better than the T7. Yet when I had the T7, I decided to go to Empire space, grinded my way up to Baron and traded it in for a Clipper. It was soo much more agile and fun to fly, with the same amount of cargo space. And it was also better looking.

Ok, that sounds like there's a story behind it, let's hear it :)

It's just an overpriced big floating Conex with a window on the front. The pointless little wings on the side prevent me from entering a mailslot vertically. And because of it's poor turning radius, low speed, and bad weapon placement, it's almost defenseless against skilled pilots. Worst of all is the heat management; I mostly knew all the other stuff before going in, but I didn't realize it would start overheating almost the second you jump to a star (if you don't turn away fast enough, which is difficult considering how slow it turns).

I actually liked the Type-6. It was cheap to outfit, and even laden you have good jump range. It could also land at outposts.

Anyways, I'm not really angry about it or anything :p. I'm just biding my time and running as much cargo as it'll fit until I can get a Clipper.

Type 6,7,9. Of course they suck to fly. No shockers there. Pleasantly surprised by the view though.

Sidewinder - Didn't appreciate it as a newbie.

Viper - Hated it. Maneuverability sucks compared to the sidewinder. Maybe that was a newbie thing also.

Cobra - Skipped it. Though I see now that on paper it looks great.

Diamondback Scout - Loved it. Still have it.

Vulture - Who doesn't love the vulture. The only real problem is that you have only one real strategy in combat: Use your superior mobility to get behind a target and give it a laser beam enema.

Asp Explorer - Just about the perfect ship. Does just about anything except for maybe taking down Anacondas. Although I'm sure more talented commanders will disagree with me on that.

Clipper - So glad FD lifted the rank requirements. I have 160m in assets and still not ranked high enough to get one. Great ship to fly. That 2 maneuverability is a lie.

FDL - Huge disappointment. Mediocre maneuverability and it's built about a class 4 hardpoint. Which means it's built around a class 3 beam laser.

Python - Hate the cockpit. It looks spectacular on paper. Sold it twice before settling on it and A speccing it. It's an amazing ship. I just have to take out my rage on the terrible cockpit by shooting things.

Anaconda - This is one of the more disappointing ships I've flown. It's barely more maneuverable than a type 9. The bridge is actually centered but when I look out the front there's this long front section of the ship that looks like of like a sidewalk cafe. She's built like a steakhouse but handles like a bistro. I didn't have enough to A spec it but it seems like the best case scenario is I outfit it to make it nigh invulnerable and then park it in a CZ and let the turrets do the work because I'm sure as hell not going to be able to actually zero in on anything in a timely manner.

Federal Dropship - The masochist in me wants to try this even though I know it's the most hated ship in the game. Just don't have the rank though.
