Buying and selling Commodities too slow

This is truly bizarre. How could they have not caught this during testing? My gameplay relies on trading 90% of the time so this is adding a lot more grind. Hope it's fixed relatively quickly.

i had an issue last night, I filled my cargo hold, 200 mouse clicks to get it full and based on the location of the market I would be selling I would be making a profit of 2,100 per item, when I got to said location to unload I had a loss of 200 per item.. what on earth is happening..

Not sure if anyone else is having this problem, but after I use the left / right keys to fill up my cargo hold relatively quickly, the BUY button becomes unusable, clicking on it does nothing. The only way to actually buy is to add one laborious ton at a time and I have 720 tons to fill :( Absolutely pathetic excuse for quality control Fdev.

Edit: For anyone else having the same issue, you can get the buy button to work as long as you use keyboard commands only, its the mouse that cant be used to click "buy" due to stupid bugs that should have been caught immediately by anyone who actually tested it out. Same thing with selling, just use the keyboard.

From the latest Frontier email - "...and we’ve all been thoroughly enjoying seeing you engaged with the new quality of life updates and more." Uh, I haven't played since I realised this issue had turned Elite into a grind when buying (and I haven't even got frustrated by any other problems, yet!).

I'm not holding my breath on a quick resolution: in the past we waited many weeks for Field-Maintenance Unit issues to be resolved (ironically, bugs introduced by another update) and that was really annoying to try and play through. I'm just so disappointed by this.

....

Why don't you use your already bound controls for this whilst the mouse issue persists:

I find it just as quick. 🕹

Which is an idea, thank you, as mentioned by others in this thread.

But, you know what? I can't be arsed to work-around Frontier's bug/or design choice - because I'm so used to doing things a certain way; has always worked fine and I'm comfortable with that. Plus, I'm a miserable sod and I'm making a point about bugs/design choices that shouldn't have happened. ;-)

This bug is such a shocker that I genuinely thought it would be addressed instantly. It utterly kills my interest in trading and I'm clearly not the only one.
But no, a week in and still no fix?? Unless FD are about to go under, I can't make sense of why they would be hesitating to sort this out.
Here's a suggestion for you FD: compare the amount of goods traded per commander per day before and after the umm, improvement...

Try buying a commodity with limited availability. Say 9 in stock and you have cargo space of lots more - you can run the "buy" figure up over the available stock and the window just sits there - obviously you can't buy because that amount isn't available. It is really stupid. (The amount you want to buy where there is stock available stops when you reach your available cargo capacity and in your sell screen the figure stops correctly too. - It is just in buying limited supply items.)

I just tried to do some trading while running cargo missions. First time since the April release. Nope. That's done. Buy/Sell All button. Please. Now.
I picked up some Source and Return missions before I knew about this problem and I'm really regretting it now.
UPDATE: The new commodity UI that tells you how many mission goods you need and how many you have, is really nice. So if they could just fix the speed of buying/selling...

I am pretty sure that Frontier is well aware of the load/unload cargo issue being slow and that a fill all option or type in a selected amount would greatly enhance this function.. This leads me to believe that this is by design.. for whatever reason.. they have purposely made it slow and awkward... I don't see any other reason why they have not yet fixed this by the millions of times it's already been suggested since launch..

yeah, how's that tinfoil working out for you? (my bold)

Commodities Market
  • Stopped allowing players to attempt to buy more goods from a market than it can actually supply
  • Increased the acceleration when choosing the quantity of commodity when buying or selling
  • The sell pop up now defaults to max amount of the chosen commodity you're carrying
  • If the player is currently docked at the station that is also set as the saved comparison market, the comparison column and its header will update and use the galactic average prices to calculate the profits
  • If the player doesn't have Horizons, planetary surface markets are not considered when looking for best prices in the 'also consumed by' / 'produced by' lists
