Buying Elite?

So some of these may be stupid questions, some have probably been asked and answered but

1. So theres 3 options in the store.. I think I'm right in this but correct me if I'm wrong..
Premium
Standard
Basic
Premium is all DLC plus Beta, plus final release - £100
Standard is Beta, plus final release - £50
Basic is just the standard release - £35
Which option is most popular, or seen as best option?

2. What is the benefit of taking the basic option? Especially considering release date could be a year away..
So if £50 extra is all the DLC that must mean buying it separately is higher so DLC will eventually cost £60+

3. Is there any benefit of buying any of these options now seeing how release is unknown and could be many months.. is it a special deal or something.. or is it you might as well wait for what difference it makes.

4. How long is the beta likely to last,, is this all basically early access to the full game that is still a work in progress that continues and updates until somebody turns around and says 'yep, I think we are finished.. this is the game'.

5. I'm worried maybe that playing the beta might have some impact on my enjoyment on the full release.. is that just stupid? Or is that a possible issue some people are worried aout.

6. I'm guessing the full game is not coming out in march as rumoured but probably more likely Christmas. Beta maybe March?

7. Anything else I might have missed or you think might be worth adding to the topic?

For £ 100 you have the premium beta, the beta 2, the gamma, the commercial version and all future extensions. You will win ultimately

Even if you buy the basic game, you will get it in the gamma phase, before public release. This gamma phase is the final test, open to all backers, and the devs will only reset the progress if something major happens :)

I'm working on a reset prior to full commercial release. That way if it does, well, I'm not surprised or dismayed. If it doesn't, then I win.

Any clue round about to the nearest month when premium beta starts? Is it like about 2 ish..

Is premium beta just another word for early, early beta..

I might as well get the £100 one.. it seems alot for a game but if I enjoy it and play it even half as much as I did the originals then it will probably be worth.

Really, I probably still owe them from all the time I got out of the originals.. I feel like I ripped them off :)

And I'm guessing there is no plans for a box release.. digital only?

I believe there is a box release coming, basd on the fact that there is (was) a kickstarter boxed edition. I have one coming. Don't know when though. Is it full commercial release or the start of the backers release (Gamma).

More like .....

Alpha £200 available now, and includes all of the following:
Premium (phase 1) Beta £100, available whenever Alpha completes, includes all of the following:
Expansion pack £35
Standard (phase 2) Beta £50, available whenever Premium Beta complete, includes the following:
Release £35, available when Beta complete.

You could opt for Release + Expansion (£70), Standard Beta + Expansion (£85).

Well, I just bought the £100 one..

I'm happy with that.

I only noticed the 3 options.

I would have preferred to get the boxed version, but the DL version has it benefits. I cant scratch it or lose it. I like to have a box tho.. showing my age I guess. :)

Thanks for the help.

Nice one, I paid up to the same on the old backers app. Getting on the first beta and all future expansions seems like the best deal I reckon. Welcome aboard.

By the way, it's your round ;)

2. The Basic option will get you access to the Gamma as as when it's released As others have pointed out you get more items if you pay more money.

3. Who knows what deals will be available in the future. The best offer today though I think is the one you have bought.

4. Again who knows, as many others have said, it will be ready when ready. My personal guess? At least two more rounds of Alpha which will take us into late March with a beta somewhere around that time or early April. Just a guess though.

5. You'll be more 'familiar' with the game when the final release is out that's for sure. And all backers will have access to the gamma anyway which could be months before the final game. I'll be surprised if there will be anyone left by the time the full game comes out.

Also remember that the beta is for you to spot bugs and report them, so when the gamma comes out their experience will be that much the better.

6. Definitely not. Latter end of the year. Or just in 2014 as Frontier are stating currently.

Me too, I've just shelled out a hundred sovs for the Premium Beta.

I feel guilty for spending so much on a game, but I started playing Elite years ago on the BBC B (and still occasionally play Elite 2: Frontier on my PC) so am an incurable addict.

I try and think of it this way: the game is £35, the expansion pack £35, and just £30 to get it a couple of months early.

What's your guesstimate of when the premium beta might appear, Major?

What's your guesstimate of when the premium beta might appear, Major?

As I said in Question 4 above my PERSONAL guess based on the new Dev 10 info would be April(ish), but I have no info to support that, just my own thoughts. As always, Frontier dictate the schedule, they will release when the are ready.

I like many others will be eagerly waiting when they do.

How many alpha phases are planned? Who knows, if everything goes well perhaps we get premium beta early march and plain beta on april.

When the Alpha can no longer be purchased in the shop, I think we have a sign that 1st beta is about a week or 2 away?
At the moment it's not advertised but is still there if you search.
