Buying illegal weapons

Some shady character approached me in a station with a mission to acquire some illegal weapons... Didn't say what he wanted them for and was willing to pay good money. Unfortunately I had to decline the offer as I didn't know where I might go about procuring some...

It's not in the normal commodity market. You can go to the Contacts Menu in Starport Services and see if there is a Black Market contact. So far I haven't been able to buy from the ones I've seen, as I get a "You don't have any thing to sell" message. Not sure if that's because I don't have rep or because you need something to sell that they want before you can buy.

its possible you need stolen cargo before the black market will take notice of you, im just speculating.. havnt played

yes, if the system sells them they will be in the reguar market - they are not illegal in all systems.

plus, at present you can only sell to the black market, not buy from it.
