Buying Mandalay

So... I'm thinking about buying the Mandalay. I've almost finished grinding the Ody on-foot stuff and preparing a journey to Colonia in style. I'm relatively new to the game, so I'm not acquainted with the procedure of ARX paid ships.

1. Does it only unlock the ship and still have to buy it for credits?
2. Deployment? Station with a shipyard is enough? Do I have to pick it up somewhere?
3. If I get ganked, Thargoided, or else, can I rebuy it with the default (as provided when bought) or currently equipped modules like any other ship?
4. Any exceptions, differences or other (not talking about outfitting, performance and things alike), compared to normal ships?

No you get one free of credits copy of the ship and an unlock that will allow you to buy additional copies for credits.

2. Deployment? Station with a shipyard is enough? Do I have to pick it up somewhere?

Anywhere with a shipyard including your carrier if you had one or someone else’s if they had the shipyard module.

3. If I get ganked, Thargoided, or else, can I rebuy it with the default (as provided when bought) or currently equipped modules like any other ship?

You could rebuy normally price based on value of changed modules and get back what you lost or, I think, redeploy it as purchased at a shipyard as long as you didn’t rebuy.

4. Any exceptions, differences or other (not talking about outfitting, performance and things alike), compared to normal ships?

Well if you got the Stellar version I think the paint job is not available from the shop. But no the only differences are the early access and the rebuy cost.
