Buying New PC, need advices

Hello,

Here is my actual pc that is still working and has been for many years, I like it, but I was considering buying a new one.

AMD FX(tm)-8350 Eight-Core Processor 4.00 GHz
RAM 16,0 Go
GC Nvidia GTX 1070
480go SSD Crucial BX500 540Mo/s
HDD 1To

Here is what I am considering buying :

Six Core Intel i5 11400F Processeur 4.4GHz - Nvidia RTX 4060 Ti 8Go - 16Go RAM - 1To NVMe M.2 SSD - 700W PSU

I am not an expert far from it... So will I see a real difference? Is it worth the price? Is it a big mistake? Why?

Thank you.

(I'm buying a pack with screen and keyboard so I could give everything I alread have to my son)

Thank you, I didn't mention I was almost cerainly going to buy a prebuild cause I don't have so much time and buying on amazon gives me more guarantee to have it fast and be able to easily return it if there's a problem.
So considering it's a prebuild and including screen and mouseKeyboard? Does it still seems too expensive? Or is it too expensive compared to a pc I would have to build?

Why not look at one of their offerings that doesn't include such a compromise monitor on that vendor's "store pages"?

It's only 150 euros difference https://www.amazon.fr/dp/B0C6FKNFF3?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

I was considering it as the most simple solution to have a full installation and give the current one to my son.

The screen in the pack seems a bad one to you? ( not sure I understand "compromise")

I al so wanted to say that I Have a steam deck and not playing that much on the pc those days, so the pc will be more to play time to time to the games that won't run on the deck...

Or consider perhaps buying the components yourself and bolting it together. Thus saving money and getting exactly what you want. Yes there's risk something may not work. But I've built dozens of PCs over the years and tbh I've had very little issues except from my own stupidity setting it up.
Crafting your custom rig is the way to go.

......

It was just that it is only a 27" 1080 monitor - pretty low spec but of course you could just give that to your son.

(Why does the French spec use inches and not use cm?)

will I see a real difference?

Yes.

Is it worth the price?

I can't see the price on the French Amazon, but from other comments and the relatively modest collection of hardware in that system, I'm betting not.

Is it a big mistake? Why?

I don't know that it's a big mistake, but you can do better.

(Why does the French spec use inches and not use cm?)

Because Al Gore invented the internet, duh.

For €100 more, you can get this PC with a superior display.
I'm seriously thinking about that combo. The seller seem fine?

Yes.

The price is 1568 euros. For the inches I think it has to do with amazon and copy paste products.

I did that in the past, but nowadays I pref to receive the whole thing ready to use, it's more comfortable than relying on" my own stpidity" setting it up... So too much time and worries.
That's also why I buy on amazon cause there are so much guarantees, it eases my mind.

I have built my own pc's for a very long time. Nothing wrong with pre builts, but you need to understand the price of each part, and it's respective price to performance. I would look around for other pre builts from other companies, as the one in your orig post does not look to be worth the money. I would suggest seeing if any local shops sell new gaming pc's.

I can't see the price on any of these, but unless that system is sub-1k EUR, it's a no.

A major problem with the systems you've linked so far is the 8GiB RTX 4060 Ti. This card costs way too much for an 8GiB GPU. You'll be having VRAM capacity issues in all kinds of modern games, right out of the gate.

This particular system in your link here is also using Intel's boxed cooler, which is a major bit of penny pinching that will come back to annoy you eventually.

I am close to buying or building a new PC for MSFS2024 - I usually build my own but this time I was considering using Scan Computers to build one for me since I have seen people on here speak highly of them. So maybe there is a continental or French company similar to Scan that you could look at (maybe Scan could serve France)?

N.B. I had also been considering Overclockers UK to build a bespoke PC but I am told they seem too "pricey" for what you get.

Ok or else I found this one for 1300 euros :

AMD Ryzen 7 5700X • Windows 11 • GeForce RTX 4070 Super 12Go • 32Go DDR4 • 1000Go M.2 SSD

Spec wise, this is pretty good for the price.

Some concerns:
  • Some of the images are clearly not of the system described, so seeing the exact configuration is difficult
  • The motherboard is about as cheap as one can go and AM4 has little in the way of upgrade options, but if you're never going to swap out parts yourself, this is of little concern.
  • That case is pretty mediocre...putting a solid sheet of acrylic directly in front of one's intake fans and relying on a narrow slit around the perimeter for ventilation is dumb, but again, not huge deal for this system.

I'm considering this one with an upgrade of the screen shared by 10th monkey

Samsung ODYSSEY G5 G51C 32'' 165Hz -1ms, Dalle VA, Résolution QHD 2,560 x 1,440, 3000

it seems to be a good site. I've looked on the french site on which I had build my pc 12 years ago but it seems to have become way more expensive.

16GB of ram is a touch on the lowside imo. A lot of newer games have recommended (which is typically mid-point) of 12 to 16GB. If you want ultimate performance, 32GB plus it gives more overhead for any upcoming releases.
