Buying or Trading for Materials?

Will there ever be a point where we can trade for or buy materials? I hate all the grinding required to get the materials to only end with A CHANCE of a good engineer upgrade. Now multiply that issue across multiple weapons or parts and the process of getting materials as it sits is even more irritating! Make the materials super expensive if it must be, but i HATE grinding. If i wanted to do grinding that i hate, i'd go play a game like WoW or Elder Scrolls etc.

When Frontier implemented Engineers they consciously chose to divorce gain access to, ranking with and Engineering modifications from credits - to do otherwise would mean that affluent players (some have tens of billions of credits) would have "bought" the best modifications immediately - and each player requires to gather their own materials and data.

Sandro did react positively (no ETAs, no guarantees) to a request for a material trading feature - possibly through NPCs in the Contact menu of some stations....

The currency of engineering is time. Making mats purchasable would defeat the whole point of having mats rather than just selling rolls for credits.

On the other hand, nobody can say for sure that it will never happen.
