Buying ships for ARX? How about Fleet Carriers?

The new Stronghold carriers are pretty good looking, a perfect slimmed down version of the usual fleet carriers.
I would pay good ARX to skip the 5 billion credit grind to get my hands on one of the these.
Maybe it has different jump range, maybe it's more fuel efficient, maybe it has less cargo space?

What do you think?

I would say no. The pre-built ships can be excused because the builds on them kind of suck. This is getting far too close to being pay-to-win for my tastes.
How about if we follow the same model, use ARX for essentially prerelease with 0 modules and you still have to maintain everything in exactly the same way?

Only issue is that whales wouldn't want their prizes vanishing because they don't pay upkeep (and they won't, because they don't play - which is why they don't have 5B). Might have to restrict them to unpopulated systems. Or maybe give them their own 'whale zone' to park in ;)
Oh, I dunno...

A million Arx, a year of upkeep included, and throw in a nice .jpg as well, that should be the right enticement for the SC whales, surely?

What do I think...🤔...the first thought that crossed my mind was, what would be the price in ARX for one of these fleet Carriers, bearing in mind a ship, for example the Mandalay or T8 etc. is round about the 16,520 mark for the early access versions. Obviously the Stellar versions are a lot more at 33,000 ARX.
Looking at it another way, 16520 Arx costs about £9.50. So to transfer those figures across on an equal footing to a 'Carrier'...

1. So how many ARX roughly would one of these Carriers cost in real terms for an 'early access' version?
2. If we're talking about an exchange of in game credits for ARX then what does that equate to in real world (money) terms?
3. The Carrier you are stating / describing doesn't exist for players at the moment, so what would be the price in ARX or credits for one of these?
4. This is getting all pretty confusing and complicated 😅...Question...What do you think one of these Carriers should cost in ARX for (a) a stellar version, (b) an early access version, and or (c) a game credit version?

I personally can't work this out!....🤪...can anybody else? 😀

My second thought was, if people want to buy a 'Carrier' (whatever flavour it is) for ARX that's entirely up to them. I personally wouldn't, buy one (I've got one already), if it was another design of Carrier I could probably (afford to) buy one for in game credits, so....🤷‍♂️
I'm not sure personally speaking what I would do if there was a new design of Carrier to be obtained with 'early access'...I'd cross that bridge when and if it should ever appear in the game. :)

Assume 33 million for an average Arx Bought medium ship
Assume 5 billion for a FC as above

Assume a nice round £10 for an Arx ship (buying a large pack of Arx)

With some downward rounding a FC should be in the region of 150*x the price

So about £1,500 worth of Arx....
Stellar version around £3,100 worth...

Edit: typo

Hi :)

I’m kinda of the opinion, if you’re not at the stage of the game where you can afford a fleet carrier you probably can’t afford the upkeep. So ARX is a bad idea imo.

I would like more variety in FCs, but we’ll have to wait and see what the Colonisation brings with it.

Yep, I agree, the upkeep is another thing to consider, it would be a waste of ARX if you suddenly find out afterwards that you can't practically use it.

(As regards 'Colonisation', that is an interesting thought. We don't know how the 'Colonisation Ship' is procured yet , food for thought there! ;))

Cheers, thanks for working that out. (y)

No!
Whether the OP is actually serious or merely just rage baiting, and which of those would make me sadder.
Serious is definitely sadder.

I think that the colonisation ships will be even less ours than an FC is, they will just be hired for the duration of the job just as you would hire a crane for a building site.

I think this was a missed opportunity when fleet carriers first got introduced, but this ship has sailed. While I find the incessant pay-to-win nagging is inane and removed from reality, I can't see how FCs for ARX would fit into the existing situation now without upsetting more people than you'd care to count.

Edit: Maybe an idea, how about offering a voluntary option of paying FC upkeep with ARX instead of credits? For some reasonable exchange rate, say 1375 for the basic 5 million per week, which would be 5500 or roughly 2 to 3 GBP a month depending on the package you buy. Some might choose to support the game this way, some might like to keep it up through times of less activity due to IRL or whatever. Could this work as a compromise?
