Buzz or humming sound?

Is anyone else experiencing a faint buzz or humming sound in the background under the music? It is there in the launch screen, goes away when losing a park with ferris wheel screen and then returns while in the park. I checked and my sound is working properly and I'm only hearing it while playing planet coaster. It is also not present on the two pre load screens. It's driving me crazy to the point I want to not play very long.

I have notices the humming too. First I though it was my cell phone that vibrated in a different room but it went away when I turned off the volume. Definitely coming from the game itself.

I had something similar to this with The Sims 3. It got fixed by adding one of those interference reducer things on my monitor cable.

HaHa. You would think! Actually side note, I've seen a CPU usage improvement since Alpha!! Luckily that is not the problem. It is most definitely an audio problem

Are you 100% sure it isn't CPU/GPU coil whine? try muting your system's audio to see.

Maybe you can isolate the problem by disabling the different audio features of the game in the options (music, effects, etc.) to see what is causing the issue. The problem can also be caused by your hardware, for example a cable that is not making good contact or is influenced by interference from nearby devices and/or cables.

My old phone GS4 would cause my speakers to buzz if it was placed about 2 feet from my computer.

Some motherboards don't like being fully stressed, and the audio system will fail/stuttter/buzz. You can test this by downloading this Mersenne Prime software and running the stress test, then play some music in the background. Check the instruction down the webpage under the title CPU Stress/ Torture Testing. If this isolates you problem you may need a PCI soudcard.

Other things to try would be using headphones instead of your desktop speakers. Another test would be, often there will be a sound port on both the front and back of you PC. Try both spots.

The sound only comes from this game. It comes from no other game, application or software what so ever. This is using a Creative sound blaster Audigy RX sound card. It is not coil while it is coming from my computers speakers.

Does your motherboard have onboard sound? What happens if you plug your speakers into that? I'm wondering if the Creative Sound Blaster drivers don't like nearly full CPU load.

I get the same sound. I use more software the stresses my computer and CPU far more than Planet Coaster does and have no issues there. Just with Planet Coaster.

Can you isolate it to Planet Coaster by muting it in the Windows Sound Mixer and seeing if it still occurs? I think it's more likely to be a component in your PC (my graphics card has a slight coil whine when playing Planet Coaster) rather than audio generated by the game itself. Planet Coaster is very bus-bandwidth heavy which can cause other parts of your system to generate these kind of noises.

Cheers

I have isolated it to Planet Coaster. When I mute the game the buzz goes away. I have just sadly played it on mute as it is extremely odd and annoying. I can confirm it is not a coil whine or hardware components. It is strictly only in Planet Coaster.

I noticed one of the music tracks had a strange noise in the background the other night. Possibly related?

Also I have the same problem. The sound dissapears when leaving the game and returning to the menu. The problem only relates to this game.

Buzz (=ringing) in the high end / treble region? That is almost always the result of a mismatch in frequency.

Go to your windows audio setting and check if the default setting is 16bit / 48khz. 24bit and anything above 48khz is overkill. Most games are mastered in 16bit/48khz or 44.1khz so try either setting.

Found a relevant image / discussion on this forum http://www.passmark.com/forum/other...f-sample-rates-do-not-match?p=17259#post17259

Our audio cards at work also mismatch sometimes (usually when using two programms that don't support and/or set different sample rates) although ours don't "buzz" (=ring), instead they pitch the audio ever so slightly.

Let me know of that helps?

Ps. On our cards the game doesn't have to be restarted when changing rates though sometimes, we do loose all audio. For best results, make sure all programs that can produce sound (skype, browser etc.) are closed when switching the rate and then start the game. The windows volume mixer is a helpful tool to find any audio producing programm, as those will add a volume slider to the mixer.

That worked!! Oh thank god you are a life saver! My default on my audio was studio quality 24bit. You have no idea how happy this makes me. It's the small things. Thanks again!
